Some big cold rain events possible down south in the next week or two.  Wet roads and even some overnight frosts could prove hazardous for southerns,  who are not used to extreme winter conditions!

Stay tuned for warnings! 😀

Exceptional upcoming forecast. It’s going from mild, wet dross to cold, wet dross. How exciting 🤩 Thursday looks especially great!

Robbie Coldrain  God help the south if they get a frost…. I’m not sure they’ll be able to cope or even know what one is…

 TheOgre I know! Honestly I can’t wait…

Its yet another overcast and windy day here. Pretty sure the bbc forecast said “a fresh breeze”. It’s definitely more than that… Gusting to 50 mph at least. Temp currently 11°C. The story of this winter has just been overcast, mild, wet and windy here.

TheOgre the recent weather has been fine actually - mild but predominantly dry.

The forecast is dire though - cold and wet, but not cold enough for snow. Highs of 5C with rain. Truly the worst of both worlds.

lassie23 may the lord have mercy on your soul if you dare mention such a scenario.

TheOgre classic (southern) English cold spell 🥶 It'd be foolish to expect widespread heavy and long lasting snowfall at such a southerly position, just like it would be foolish to expect a Saharan summer! We're not Spain but we're not Norway either.

Word of the day: "underwhelming"... not that most of us didn't expect downgrades, even the fanatics expected it as a possibility.

Is it time to start looking forward to spring warmth now that the weather has gone back to default mild ? I usually look for snow but feel this year has pretty much become a bust now especially now global warming has heated up Europe so much . Personally can’t see any sign of a cold spell coming from current modelling. Not particularly bothered

The $64000 question is, will we get a frost out of the epic cold spell?

I going for no.

snowspotter the rampers will have you believe that we're due to be buried under snow with monster easterlies by the end of February going into March. A few people have pointed out the cracks that are starting to show in the model outputs but needless to say it doesn't make them popular.

Indeed. Forecast high of 4C and rain on Saturday here. About the worst weather conditions you can get in winter. The weather forecasters can’t even say “but at least it will be mild”…

Probably plenty of scenes like this in London next week.

Cold seems to be in short supply across the board. That big juicy cold mass over Scandinavia has been chopped up!

3°C and heavy rain with a feels like temp of -2°C here on Thursday next week… Yuck! 🤮

Love a good "big rain event". So rare and exciting in Britain. It's not as if we've had rain be the dominant weather pattern since July 2023 with only brief periods of respite in between...

Arguing about which model is correct, three days before the event 🙂

Properly cold wind today. I get that coldies enjoy snow...I enjoy snow as well. But this is certainly chilly enough!
