Spring has sprung, lovely morning with lots of sunshine. Feels warm in the sun, chilly though in the shade.

Shaping up to be a very nice day here in London. Had an hour of pointless grey muck but it’s cleared off 😁

rain_shadow I quite like fog as long as it isnt like that for weeks

Fun fact, March so far has been foggier than any of the autumn and winter months already

baddie yes, just fog in still air is somewhat romantic, but this is a constant low cloud with a haze by this horrid Helm wind like breeze, as most frequent this time - honestly it was better weather in January...

Despite the low pressure system much closer here today, (in the Bay of Biscay) today is one of the better days of this week. Up to 13C with some sunny spells, but that easterly breeze still blowing in. Will be very different tomorrow sadly with the rain coming back.

Looking to next week it doesn't look too bad despite south westerlies arriving back; temperatures looking mild and most importantly not much rain until at least later in the week / weekend.

rain_shadow Fog can be alright in November with the autumn foliage. In spring it isn't welcome. Luckily fog is rare here.

Lots of hazy sunshine, 13c. A nice early Spring day.

Just saw this on YouTube… My response? Considering we’ve just had an exceptionally spell bad spell of weather since last July, with some parts of the country, having their wettest July and December on record, yes, I think we ought to be moaning about it!

Another cold and cloudy day here, no rain though.

And just like that, the benefits of the drier few days we just had have been completely rendered obsolete, as we return to BAU today with the good ol' relentless drizzle that lasts for 12 hours straight.

I honestly don't think the ground will recover in any meaningful way until we have a properly warm and dry spell in May / June. Perhaps if mid to late April delivers a solid week of warm, dry weather also.

In Absence of True Seasons Yes the same spots locally that were flooded last weekend now have big puddles again.

Need to get beyond March. It’s often an unsettled month. April much better. Drier spells more likely and stronger sun to dry things out quicker.

MP-R Yep. Thing is, this isn't even proving to be a particularly bad March. It's just the classic "mixed bag" early Spring month that delivers some dry sunny days and some wetter days. But, given the last several months we have had, anything other than a month that's well below average level rainfall, is not actually going to be significant enough to properly recover the Bogland that much of our landscape has become

MetRyan96 has hinted on twitter/X a possibility for cold weather during the latter part of this month into April, but also said so with a low confidence rating.

In Absence of True Seasons It has been absolutely woeful here so far. Just 14.2 hours of sunshine, a highest temperature of 9.7C and 120% of the expected rainfall for the first 10 days of the month. Every single day has had a nagging easterly wind aswell. It has been terrible.

In Absence of True Seasons I would give March a 5/10 so far. It has dry (except today and the 1st/2nd), though anticyclonic gloom was sadly the issue

Hoping we see an April 2018-style flip in the second half. That month only seen 22 hours in its first half followed by a very sunny week. GFS 00z is proving this with 20c forecasted for March 23rd

This month just proves why I often rate March as the 2nd worst month of the year after November. Often it's just a continuation of winter, grey, wet and mouldy, cold, minging conditions going on forseeably - a pretender to the throne of spring. A fake "spring" month. Oh well. Keep on ticking those days down on the calendar and sleeping the days away.
