Today didn't go to plan. The forecast said sunny before clouding over in the afternoon. Instead, it clouded over immediately at half 8 and has been grey all day since.

It's now 8.8C and raining with a 20-25mph wind.

Look at all that rain heading from the NW to the SE. I thought we were supposed to be high pressure dominated this week, so where is all this rain coming from?

Let me guess, yet more last minute downgrades?

The wind makes all the difference. It's not as strong here today so it doesn't feel as abnormally cold as it could do.

It's more over the weekend. But even that isn't looking as robust as it once was, and it is also going to be chillier than was forecast a couple of days ago.

danm understatement, this weekend good pretty decent a few days back, many places could be unseasonably under cloud, drizzle and a north easterly flow.

Alderc 2.0 it was always a very flimsy high, and with the Euro trough gaining strength and pushing west, it's being blown away.

Josh, the models again and forecasts underestimated the rain again, umpteenth time this year, but rarely other way round, often gets worse heading back west from King's Bromley which was dry, to Rugeley/Stafford to the NW wet

Seems like it's going to be one of those years where it takes an age to warm up. All I can see beyond the weakening of the HP next week is more crud from a NW'ly direction. Big meh to that!

The end of April marks the beginning of 'plume season' so I'm begging to see high pressure set up just to the east in the models from around about now. Just seriously hoping it's not as bad as 2020, 21 & 23 on the plume front!

ChannelThunder Got to admit, plumes are the weather i detest more than any other, so hard to cope with with their sudden nature, so hard to sleep or work in, revolting in fact🤮
