ChannelThunder Same as last year then? Well, particularly for the South East at least.

Very odd to have two consecutive years with such slow warm-up like this. Especially in current times where everything is 'warming up'. 😒

Plumes are overrated these days. They never tend to deliver thunderstormwise round here, and are over in 2 days. Often do better for thunderstorms from unstable north westerlies to south westerlies, or even south easterlies that aren't particularly hot. The longest and most pleasant warm, dry, sunny spells are from overhead high pressure systems as well.

Plumes are amazing if you live on or near the south coast usually. It's the only synoptic that delivers thunderstorms here 99% of the time. That's probably why a few people I know think thunderstorms only happen overnight.

Yeah plumes are pretty pants here nowadays too (in actual summer) - the cold front pushes through and just shunts the warm air out the way rather than going bang (haven’t had a summer plume storm here since 2019)

May and September however have both delivered for here over the past couple years. I think we’ve had a crazy nighttime strobe show in both those months for two years running.

Hard to imagine plumes and storms when the weather has been the equivalent of beige for 8 months solid now.

Downgrades on sunshine forecasted for the next 5-7 days (and beyond).

The classic! Can't say I'm surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Going to be a shockingly dull month re the sunshine stats by month's end.

It just goes on and on.

Does anyone know where I can place a bet to win a lot of money on the next month on East Anglia to be more than 200 hours sunshine and not have the option (any later than) period, mine is July 2054, I would bet my last penny on that

Apparently the Met Office have discussed a five wave pattern that could persist through summer (for reference this is what happened in 2022)

raz.org.rain That would be the least we deserve after what we've had since July 2023.

raz.org.rain get stuck in a trough of a 5 wave pattern and we’d likely need dinghy to travel by come September.
