  1. Max of 25.8 earlier but the sea breeze has picked up reducing the temperature to a still pleasant 23.3c
  2. Living near the coast it never gets that warm for such a long period of time. Even during July 2006 and especially August 2003 there were sea breezes which kept temperatures down. If I was getting low 30s every day that might alter my opinion somewhat or I might cope with it just as well. I would like to experience it sometime. But it's not just the warmth that's pleasing me this month, it's the fact that I can plan my outdoor things for the week ahead without thinking if it's going to rain. Even if it was 30c every day for a week I like to think I would still get out and about to make use of it more than I could do in the endless days of rain last year.
  3. Yes, time passes and the seasons change (in most cases unlike March this year). But for now its Summer and the weather has at last realised what time of year it is. After 6 cool and wet summers i'm no where near the stage yet where i want an end to this spell, because the last 6 summers have shown how bad the other end of the scale can be. I have said before that i would welcome an average summer with warm sunny periods interspersed with cooler more showery ones. But in reality once the warmth is here its not that easy to say lets have a cool week and the warmth can come back after that. I'm just a bit suprised that after 4 below average winters and 6 wet summers, some people cant accept one above average summer month.
  4. No the best from the ECM at day 10 for those wanting a continuation of the summery conditions with low pressure bearing down on the UK from the north. But up until then its more summery warmth and sunshine.
  5. High pressure resumes its dominance over the UK in Thursday on the ECM 12z. Before gradually moving north to be centred over Scotland on Friday. So basically another hot and sunny week to come. Noticeably warmer for East Anglia and the far southeast up until midweek.
  6. At a time when crops are turning yellow ready for harvesting i would have thought that plentiful sun would be the order of the day rather than rain. I'm no farmer but i dont recall the summers of 2003 and 2006 having bad harvests. Any crop having a poor harvest this year will be the result of the dry, cold March more than anything else i would have thought.
  7. The temperature could be 21c and i would still find that pleasant. But the whole idea of summer is to enjoy the long daylight hours and the far greater possibilities for enjoying it than darkness brings in the winter. Therefore i want my evenings to be warm too without a chill. A 21c max is just not enough to guarantee evening warmth. Hence why its much better to get a max in the mid 20s then the evening is much more likely to be a pleasant warm one.
  8. Beyond 5 days they show the possible range of maximums rather than give just one figure. The highest value is often too high and the lowest too low. For example Northampton next Friday has a range 20c-29c.
  9. Very impressive that despite currently being high in the mid 17s it will still climb further during the coming week. What a way to break the run of below average months.
  10. Another 30c for southern England looks certain today. According to Weatheronline Bournemouth was at 28.7 at 2pm.
  11. Nice and pleasantly warm here at 22.1c. Sunshine a bit hazy though but the early low cloud has cleared.
  12. These sort of temperatures do come with their drawbacks but you have summed it up perfectly. And that is its weather that is worthy of the name Summer. No NW/SE split with those in Scotland moaning its just in the teens. No horrid showery cool northwesterlies with 'Feeling Autumnal' headlines everywhere. Just some long over due summer sunshine and high temperatures. The only people who can say they have not experienced anything from this heatwave are those in East Kent and the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.
  13. ECM 12z starting off with high pressure centred to the SW of the UK up until midweek before the high shifts northeast bringing down cooler conditions to end the week. To end the run the high gets flattened over the UK so the warmth would return to the east coast. At T+240 and strange and rare feature appears to the NW of Scotland which i believe indicates wind and rain and is called low pressure.
  14. Max of 23.4c today but now the low cloud has rolled in to give a chillier evening but for the bulk of the day it was another very warm one. So much more to come i feel. The models just dont want to get rid of high pressure.
  15. Yes, that seems a fair summary Georgiesnow. Not much change for southern and western areas for the next 10 days with more very warm temperatures and plentiful sunshine. For the eastern half over the next 10 days it will likely stay very warm until next Wednesday/Thursday but thereafter more chance of low cloud and cooler temperatures filtering down from the north. But the UKMO 0z does give food for thought that maybe a more continental influence cant be ruled out.
  16. Looking 10 days ahead, The GFS 12z supported by the GEFS mean is definately the pick of the models for continued warmth and sunshine.
  17. Later on on the ECM it goes slightly downhill with cooler air coming down from the northeast but it would still be dry for all parts but with temperatures slipping back to the low to mid 20s.
  18. High pressure initially centred roughly over southern England building northwards on Wednesday. Tuesday looking a particularly hot day for some
  19. Hopefully the elusive 30c gets achieved tomorrow. Its not a classic summer month until it has been reached IMO.
  20. A much warmer day with a high of 25.5c which I didn't expect. I was thinking something around the 23c mark. Anyway, contrary to the above posters I think it feels lovely in a nice breeze. The past 2 days have seen an unwelcome autumnal chill so this warmth is so welcome.
  21. Check out the week ahead forecast from Weatheronline http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/reports?LANG=en&MENU=weekahead&DAY=20130712 Up to 18.7c here which is already higher than the max of the last 2 days. I fancy something in the region of 23c today.
  22. I would say there is a reasonable chance of an east/west split setting up at the end of next week with low cloud and cooler temperatures affecting the eastern half of the UK with the west still basking on very warm conditions with plenty of sunshine. But from today until next Wednesday it is looking better for those in the east with less cloud and some very warm temperatures early on next week as winds temporarily swing round to a westerly direction.
  23. ECM ends with the daddy of all high pressures sat to the west of Ireland.
