  1. I still haven't turned the heating on since I came back to the UK which was April 2014..so that's 15 months and counting.
  2. The summers of the mid 1980s were awful..the last 3 winters of the decade were very mild indeed...closest to text book seasons would be 1983.
  3. Computer says no..they don't make things up..unlike some on here
  4. I have had in excess of 20 days maybe more 25c or above..not had a temperature below 20c since mid June..so far this summer has been near perfect..not too hot not too cool very little in the way of rain lots of sunshine and lots of good nights for sleeping.
  5. From memory 87-88 was the turning point from winters of 60-80s to the so called even larger teapot phase so much touted on here in the 2000s..there was a predicted very cold easterly outbreak forecast in the early part of Dec 87..which never quite materialised and from there on in the winter developed into a mild relatively snowless one and set the scene for the next 3/4 years weather..mild/very mild winters followed by relatively hot summers.(summer 88 excluded).
  6. I predict this could be the coldest chart of the 2015/16 Autumn/winter season
  7. There was snow in Essex in the first week of November 1980 and again in 1985 I think..and also there was quite a bit around the 20th November 1988 if memory serves me right?
  8. Ditto it reached 36c where I live which is 10miles from Heathrow as the crow flies or an airplane for that matter...so do not see what all the fuss is about?
  9. thats where i am in Ruislip fairly hammering it down lots of lightning alarms going off etc
  10. Spring was pretty dry here also..had no appreciable rain in May or June and apart from some heavy showers July has been dry also.
  11. August will be very warm and sunny..if not I shall resign and leave the country.
  12. im expecting a warm dry September followed by a fairly average Oct and a relatively mild November...looking on into Winter im expecting it to be very mild and wet.

  14. well yesterday temp of 36.7c although short of the UK record is still higher than the highest ever recorded in my old haunts of Calgary and Edmonton which are 36.1c and 35.1c respectively.
  15. Funny how the same people constantly moan all year round in every thread on the forum...that in itself is boring..its fine to moan in threads dedicted to moans and groans but it not a pleasure having to wade threw the same moans posted all over the place..yes we get the picture already moan over !

  17. this was going to be my tip..put your pillows in the freezer for 10 minutes and if you have 4 like me ...then put 2 on the bed and lay on top of them and put the other two you so you are in the middle like sandwich..does work for about an hour which is enuff to get you to sleep.
  18. are you excited about the prospect of some hot summer days in the next 2 months or so but also dreading the payback of those sleepless humid summer nights? why not share your tips for keeping cool in the bedroom for everyone to try..the more unusual the better!
  19. I actually liked August in Canada because the shorter days meant Autumn began in earnest by the last week or so with trees already a glow with oranges and reds, with some lovely cool mornings followed by warm afternoons.

  24. I lived in Canada for nearly 6 years. Generally your assumption is correct Dec and January are usually the coldest months of the year in Western Canada with November and March the snowiest. However March 2011 was the coldest for nearly a century and the -42c came on the 1st of March
