  1. here in Calgary...Jan and Feb were mild with little or no snow falling...March and April were relatively cold and snowy...May and June were cool and wet and culminated in the worst flood in the city's history on June 21st...when hundreds of thousands were made homeless in the city and surroundings towns and countryside...July was cool and thundery...August and September were warm and sunny..Octbober was a return to real autumn...Nov and Dec were snowy up to Xmas
  2. Again hardly a battle as they have almost indentical climates and are within spitting distance of each other...hows about doing places that have opposite climates rather than places that have the same?
  3. i cant wait has been a long drawn out autumn and early winter for me...desperate for spring now...had enough of cold and snow by the middle of November and dark mornings
  4. i posted a thread similar to this on a storm i noted in Calgary in the summer of 2012..when the storm was literally on top of my location lots of lightning but no thunder whats so ever..so distance and the dissipation of sound was not a factor.
  5. thanks for the heads up...ill make sure i am not on the roads at around 7pm tomorrow for my own safety
  6. Looks like a brief cold snap around Xmas for a few days before it turns mild again in the run up to new years.
  7. only forecast 5cm of snow here tomorrow..but a big fall in temps from +5c down to -20c...trouble is my car is filthy and needs a wash desperately but seems pointless with temperatures up and down every few days
  8. i didnt get any at my house at all in the south east..my office got dumped on though which is the north east...was a good 15-20cm of new snow.
  9. not quite..some months you gain more than others..the gains decrease rapidly as you head into May and are almost non existent as you go through June..opposite is true the gains are very slow until the middle of January then they accelerate rapidly through Feb and March
  10. Nice temp drop this morning went from +3c at 5.30am this morning to -12c at 8.30am.
  11. The latter charts around Xmas or just before desperately try and push high pressure through Alaska into my side of the Arctic...which it turns shunts the whole jet south across the eastern Atlantic and Western Europe..shows some brutally cold weather across all of Canada and the northern parts of the States and pushes colder more unsettled weather across Northern and Western Europe..could be a precursor to a cold outbreak for you guys around the last week of December?
  12. If this baby goes them i am a goner..i'm only a days drive from Yellowstone
  13. we have masses of snow in Calgary..has been very snowy the last 2-3weeks..thank fully has stopped today..we are going to miss the next winter storm which is heading towards Edmonton..they are forecast to get between 25-50cm of snow in the next 2-3 days..whilst here we are to the south of that storm so we will benefit from a big warm up as the storm passes to the north of here..back up to 0c or even +1c today...may even grab a +6c on Saturday
  14. looks like it will be a fairly average 990mb depression when it reaches what looks to be southern Alaska then it fills and doesnt really go anywhere
  15. go ahead there is a little job for you over the Xmas break...do let us know how you get on?
  16. Lots of blowing snow again today..travel again is a problem in Calgary..seems to have come out of nowhere this morning
  17. Cold looks to be in short supply across Europe in the run up to Xmas..potentially looks stormy around Xmas that is all i can see.
  18. i dont remember any snow showers from this at all?..was pretty dull and some drizzle that was it
  19. had quite a bit of snow in the south west out of this one...was temporarily snowed in for a few hours before the mild weather arrived...was followed by a particularly wet and mild Xmas period if i remember rightly
  20. my area is now under an extreme wind chill warning...'with frigid conditions and brisk winds ..wind chills will be below -40c ..frostbite will occur in less than 10 mins on any exposed skin'...good job im now tucked up in bed...phew!
