  1. I remember the old Ian McCaskill video from 1991 shows the warm temperatures in New York , might have been 1987 anyway one of them check out the video
  2. Sorry didn’t mean to quote that post just trying to show the 850HPA drop
  3. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/en/topkarten.php?map=20&model=gfs&var=2&run=6&time=6&lid=OP&h=0&mv=0&tr=3#mapref this shows detailed 850HPA temps uk . I am working on basis that they need to dip below 0 to eliminate freezing rain ? I stand to be corrected looks like they drop away between 9-12 and then further between 12-6pm
  4. Just getting on Redhill train to Croydon . I don’t think it’s boring at all in fact it’s invredible that we are about to have third ice day in a row here on March ! That’s amazing. Also prospect of snow here
  5. I see that the snow on the last radar is building east of Brighton just off coast nice green blob developing. Reigate is finally going to get some at last !!! It would take a monumental swerve wnw for us to miss out this time !!!
  6. I am assuming the much hailed Hirlam has been proved crap again. Reigate and the Surrey downs have got F all again . It really is staggering how that band has intensified north of us again. What the heck is going on .
  7. As a spurs fan with the snow somehow avoiding me in Reigate I would not be amused
  8. Blimey what a load of rubbish . Even by the met office performance that is truly pathetic . Amber warning zone and not even s covering . I thought winds were supposed to turn east ? The whole lot heads to Kent really ??? . Looks like a day in sodding Croydon on trains . Total crap ?
  9. Yeah well is an nice place and we do well in these situations generally. Keeping my eye on that blob to the east !
  10. I'm in Reigate and think it is changing direction last shower got us and more coming in fro m the east , quite confident now
  11. some sad people will never venture from their computers even if its snowing outside!!. Preferring to look at a breakdown. My advice get outside and enjoy the weather not view on a screen when the beast arrives!
  12. Great post that indeed we should be comparing like for like runs. For my view I see the low slightly higher pressure and correcting South. Need to look over next few runs if this will continue. If it does then game on for he south
  13. Exactly the coldest 850hpa temps for years are heading in within next 12hours plus snow on way . Always has been from Sunday night / Monday morning for the start hasn't it?
  14. You clearly haven't got much to worry about. Your hardly gonna get an upgrade from -17 or whatever it was showing recently are you ? Bitter cold spell coming I'm sure a lot of old people are worrying about that !
  15. God almighty there are some right idiots in the mod thread. picking out the demise of the cold spell in early March and saying oh no its mild. For gods sake what do you expect icebergs . I won't name them but they really are a bit pathetic
  16. 5 days time we I will start analysing each run . Not yet!. Far too early building blocks there for possible cold spell. If people want to over analyse each run now then good luck . Will drive you mad as a hatter and frankly its pointless and and a complete waste of energy and time . BUT .......they never learn!
  17. Unfortunately not I've been on here for years watching the usual rubbish unfold bar 2010!
  18. Do we start to write off winters soon? every month I look at CET tracker it is above average. Every winter here is the same the last few years rain/ mild/ damp / nothingness no snow - rinse and repeat. I've just been skiing in Austria so have had my snow fix. Depressing catching up with the model discussion . Now looking at about once a week as sod all happening. Roll on summer here in south east at least with global warming we are getting warmer summers.
  19. So far this winter is a tale of two halves. top half UK some decent snow /south half sod all. Yeah I know parts of west of region got some. Anyway quick glance at GFS and westerly pretty much for next 14 days maybe a bit of PM air. yawn. Thats January gone then 2/3rd gone winter out with a whimper down here and to be honest no expectation of anything in Feb expecting rinse and repeat until spring. enjoy!
  20. I would suggest that those of us in the south east need to write off January along with the last 5 Januarys . One day of falling snow and about 3 frosts sums it up. Its not looking good this winter I feel. Luckily I am heading off to Austria which is about to get pummelled. suggest anyone who can gets over to the alps if they want to see some snow
  21. Well that’s the first third of January gone with not so much as a frost . Looks like nothing to n second third of note in the south east either . We might get a frost if we’re lucky . Very dull period of weather imho .
  22. Block setting up nicely dry weather here we come . UKMO hinting at very good possibilities 144 . Quietly confident on this spell coming up. Its gonna get colder peeps
  23. I don't post much these days as haven't got the interest to comment every 6 hours and live and die by every model twist. Did the met office tweet something a few days back saying large shift and much colder conditions with significant snow threat?. If so I will stick with this (if its still current!) as their models are hugely superior then the dross we get to look at. The one thing I am absolutely baffled by is people saying 'GFS won' . Really its been woeful. The area of high pressure that forms south of Iceland wasn't even picked up by this model until about 72 hours later than all the others. We'd still be in a westerly flow by weekend . In my books that is enough for it not to ever be trusted in easterly set ups, pitiful performance . Personally I am looking forward to some dry and cold weather maybe snow later on
