  1. Doesn't last too long in our parts as heights try to build in Atlantic bringing a return of a northerly plunge shown on latest GFS and ECM 12z control
  2. Pleased you got to see some & yeah to be fair the council seem to give fellside road more attention seeing as it runs through the open fields & often prone to drifting/closures
  3. Think the heavier bursts were on a strong South wind, so may have went straight overhead for your specific street but definitely a covering in open areas I suspect from looking at live Sunniside traffic cam as the A692 is generally well gritted & busy, yet a slushy mess
  4. So next Moday showing promise for a few days & beyond mid month Atlantic High rears it's head, so more nail biting ahead. So get out & enjoy the purity & joy that Winter air brings
  5. Wind vectors veering N/NE in -8 850s, really not bad for time of year. I'd say 8cm overnight thus far, so predictions not far off as still time to come & still heavyish flakes
  6. Further chances midweek & mid month the upstream pattern still relatively stagnant so mid month expected to show a few options especially with amplification nearby
  7. Latest GFS showing further chances midweek after a weekend warm up. Be interesting to see what oprions spring up the weekend after with Greeny heights returning & still not much mobility upstream, so expect varying outcomes
  8. North East Traffic cameras still showing some of the network getting heavy showers, so defo worth checking routes. This my fav as same ASL as me but on opposite side of valley in Chopwell & has a nice lampost Gateshead - C304 Garesfield - Clayton Terrace Road | North East Traffic Cameras NETRAFFICCAMS.CO.UK
  9. Still coming down thick & fast in some areas of NE. Here's a good link for the NE traffic network & often use when on the 5am starts to see if I need to change route to work, seeing as I have to travel from Durham, through T&W and onto Northumberland. Always chuckle on drive, as you can see the snow line between councils literally metres along same road as Northumberland council just shameful for road management. This camera my fav as has a nice lampost & same ASL as I at 250m Gateshead - C304 Garesfield - Clayton Terrace Road | North East Traffic Cameras NETRAFFICCAMS.CO.UK
  10. North East Traffic Cameras (Sunniside & Lobley Hill) show most areas around you had a decent covering but v oddly the Whickham camera mostly a grass cover. Very odd indeed given height. Though you've plenty of very nearby places in sledging distance to get a fix. Map | North East Traffic Cameras NETRAFFICCAMS.CO.UK
  11. That's v poor as couple of inches at Dipton, barely 4 miles away. Would have thought fellside road area to have similar. Ofcourse Whickham topography v dependant upon at top or bottom of Whickham bank, you know the posh part. Still snowing though much lighter again
  12. Flakes definitely getting bigger now the main front is heading North. Too much of a dryer, Northerly element earlier on. Much prefer these Southerly battleground falls for speed of depth. Slightly more marginal towards coast
  13. Coming in fits & bursts atm. When it gets heavy there's a strong Southerly wind, so blowing from Catchgate over to Chopwell. Perhaps as it moves slightly East you should see some vlc-record-2023-03-09-20h46m09s.mp4
  14. Installed a new outside camera at 2am this morning, to stop me having to keep looking out window. Not sure I'd see anything atm
  15. Think the strengthening wind helps in these situations as does help with drying off damp ground & then piling up on favoured topography. The almost non existent winds today even at my height just meant all that fell melted. Marginality can be your friend if you want larger stickier flakes as opposed to dry graupel
  16. Thought we'd have more Nortumberlandias reporting snow from the amount of convection off the sea. Will be interesting how Middlesbrough, Redcar fare now the most intense snow pack is reaching their region, especially given Sheffield and nearby having a good day thus far from same system
  17. Been light snow all day but not enough to top up the overnight ground cover which has been thawing. Heavier stuff looks to be on it's way & 850s defo holding out from the Northerly flow. Interesting evening ahead I suspect. Edit, good timing as just pepping up now it's got dark
  18. Northerly winds get ready to do battle. @Paul I know I've asked before but is there any reason the postcode placement dot disappears when I click precip type on v4?
  19. Give it a couple of hours for the next run if it's change your after. Models atm mid term extremely volatile & still little momentum in the system upstream, so expect more changes
  20. Convective activity off the sea making it quite far inland & nice not to have to turn the pinks on as everything appears to be the white stuff, currently -2.8C & pond still frozen And the 700hpa wind vectors showing direction of activity
  21. Well everything went way North than expected today. The wind vectors showing boundary between the slack Northerly flow & Westerly organised low system. Going to be nerve racking few days ahead & into next week as models flip/flopping so much. Good to see a return of Greeny heights to keep us in the game ahead
