UK Outlook for Tuesday 17 Jun 2008 to Thursday 26 Jun 2008:

Rather changeable early next week with clear or sunny spells and showers, though some places may remain dry. However, there is a risk of some more prolonged rain edging southeastwards around the middle of the week, though amounts and timings of any more prolonged rainfall are rather uncertain. Later in the week, the weather may settle down for a time away from the northwest with a recovery in temperature from rather cool to near normal, perhaps even rather warm in the south. More unsettled conditions are likely to develop as we head into the following week with sunshine and showers on offer, perhaps some longer spells of perhaps heavy rain at times. Temperatures are likely to remain close to average, though some warmer days are possible, especially in the south.

dropped it today!

unsettled is the main message out to 26 June but with some drier warmer slots the further south and east you live.

sums up what most models and other inputs are suggesting.

yes there are hints, no more than that, of some kind of settling down late on but not much at the moment.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 18 Jun 2008 to Friday 27 Jun 2008:

A rather changeable start to this forecast period with sunshine and showers. There is an increasing risk of some more prolonged rain edging southeastwards on Wednesday and Thursday, though amounts and timings of more prolonged rainfall remain rather uncertain. Later in the week, the weather may settle down for a time away from the northwest with a recovery in temperature from rather cool to near normal, though confidence for this is decreasing. More unsettled conditions are likely to develop again through the weekend and into the following week with increasing confidence with showers or longer spells of rain, and some rain likely to be heavy with sunshine amounts at a premium. Temperatures are likely to remain close to or rather below average with some very cool days possible.

UK Outlook for Friday 20 Jun 2008 to Sunday 29 Jun 2008:

Rather showery on Friday, especially in the east, but some sunny spells in the west. Cloud and outbreaks of rain on Saturday, the rain probably heavier and most persistent in the north and west. Drier and brighter towards the south and east, where it will become warm or very warm for a time. Remaining generally unsettled into the following week, especially across the north and west with showers or longer spells of rain at times and some strong winds. However, it will be more settled in the south and east with spells of sunshine, but some showers possible between the sunshine. At the moment, it looks as though Low pressure will continue to dominate the weather towards the end of the week. Temperatures generally near or a little below normal.

UK Outlook for Saturday 21 Jun 2008 to Monday 30 Jun 2008:

Cloudy at first in the north and west on Saturday with outbreaks of rain, some heavy and perhaps quite windy for a time. Becoming showery on Sunday. Mainly settled in the south and east with sunny spells. The unsettled weather in the north is expected to spread to all areas during Monday to Wednesday with showers or longer spells of rain but also some sunshine. Mainly fine in the south and east at first next week before the rain and showers spread in, with a chance though the south may remain fine throughout. Temperatures generally near normal at first and especially in the north and west but becoming warm everywhere. There may be some settled conditions for a time later next week but low pressure dominating again by the weekend.

UK Outlook for Sunday 22 Jun 2008 to Tuesday 1 Jul 2008:

This Sunday, wet weather is expected to spread northwards to affect much of England and Wales by the end of the day, while Northern Ireland and Scotland escape drier and brighter with scattered showers. Most of the UK can then expect a miserable day on Monday, courtesy of showers or longer spells of rain. During the course of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, warmer and sunnier weather is then expected to slowly spread northwards across England and Wales, while remaining cooler and showery across Northern Ireland and Scotland. For the rest of the period, the weather is likely to be fairly warm and settled for the most part, especially in the south, albeit with cooler, showery interludes in the north and west at times.

UK Outlook for Monday 23 Jun 2008 to Wednesday 2 Jul 2008:

Unsettled conditions are expected on Monday and Tuesday with most regions seeing showers or longer spells of rain at times. More persistent rain is likely across southern and eastern areas at first but also in the north and west later. Some southern and western parts windy at times. The unsettled theme is expected to continue in the north and west during Wednesday to Friday with showers or rain. Elsewhere, there should be some fine weather, but occasional spells of showery rain possible. Temperatures near normal but becoming very warm at times in the south. For the rest of the period, the weather is likely to be fairly warm and settled for the most part, especially in the south, albeit with cooler, showery interludes in the north and west at times.

one day further on and the same issue which seems to suggest they have a reasonable oncfidence in their forecast.

It does show the benefit of standing back and looking at all inputs, not just one or two, to give a fairly balanced view.

that is not to say it will be correct but is, in my view, far better than changing with each model run.

model watchers take note!

UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Jun 2008 to Thursday 3 Jul 2008:

Largely unsettled in the north and west through next week with showers or longer spells of rain, this rain heavy at times. It will also be breezy at times here. Elsewhere will be brighter and largely dry with some sunshine, and whilst a little showery rain is possible at times, especially later in the week, parts of the south and east should remain largely dry throughout. Temperatures near normal in the north and west, elsewhere becoming warm or even very warm locally. At the moment, it looks as though it will remain generally unsettled across northern and western areas into July, whilst the best of any drier and brighter weather will be in the south.

keeping the same story, suggests surface high pressure near to the south east and lows travelling their fairly normal track near Iceland, sometimes a bit further south I would suggest from that forecast

UK Outlook for Thursday 26 Jun 2008 to Saturday 5 Jul 2008:

Elsewhere it will start brighter and largely dry with some sunshine, and whilst a little showery rain is possible at times, parts of the south and east should have some decent drier spells. As we enter July the signals point to further unsettled spells for all areas, but with the best of any drier interludes in the southeast. It will also be breezy or windy at times. UK Outlook for Sunday 29 Jun 2008 to Tuesday 8 Jul 2008:

On Sunday most places will have sunny spells and scattered showers, although the far northwest will have more persistent rain at first. Monday and Tuesday will be mostly dry and sunny, although there will be isolated showers in the northwest at first. Then later in the week cloud, rain or showers and windier conditions will edge in from the west, the showers perhaps turning heavy and thundery in places. Temperatures will become warm or very warm in the south and east for a time but will return to normal again later. Over the weekend and during the first part of the following week there looks likely to be rain or showers in the north and west but drier and brighter conditions in the south and east.

The middle of next week is likely to start off fine and warm in central and eastern areas particularly; but some rain, perhaps preceded by thunderstorms in places, will move east across the whole of the country by the end of the week. Thereafter much of the period looks set to be rather unsettled with further rain or showers in all parts, and some of these will be heavy at times, there will however be spells of warm sunshine between times, especially in the east. Throughout this period, temperatures are likely to be around average, perhaps a little above on the sunnier days, with some mild nights expected. Towards the end of the period there are signs that the weather may become a little more settled, particularly in the southwest.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 2 Jul 2008 to Friday 11 Jul 2008:

Some rain, perhaps heavy and thundery, will affect eastern and central parts around midweek, where it will also be quite muggy, with western parts much fresher. The rain will gradually clear northeastwards by Friday as fresher weather with sunshine and showers spreads east to all parts. Thereafter much of the period looks like staying rather unsettled with further rain or showers for all, and some of these will be heavy; there will however be spells of warm sunshine between times, especially in the east. Throughout this period, temperatures are likely to be around average, perhaps a little above on the sunnier days, with some mild nights expected. Towards the end of the period there are signs that the weather may become a little more settled, particularly in the southwest.

UK Outlook for Thursday 3 Jul 2008 to Saturday 12 Jul 2008:

There is a moderate risk of periods of heavy and thundery rain in eastern areas at first, with locally large totals possible. This rain will be easing and clearing away northwards on Friday. Elsewhere will see sunshine and showers. Humid at first in the east and very mild at night and locally very warm by day if the cloud breaks, otherwise near normal temperatures. Early next week will see unsettled spells with rain or showers, locally heavy in the west where it will be windy at times, although some sunny periods too, particularly in the south-east. Temperatures mostly near normal, perhaps warm at times in the south-east. Towards the end of the period there are signs that the weather may become a little more settled, particularly in the southwest.

UK Outlook for Friday 4 Jul 2008 to Sunday 13 Jul 2008:

Persistent rain in the north-east at first on Friday will soon be clearing, with most areas then seeing bright or sunny spells and showers, some of these perhaps heavy. It is then expected to be unsettled through the weekend with showers but bright spells in between, but also more prolonged spells of rain affecting many parts for a time. Remaining largely unsettled into the following week with outbreaks of rain but also scattered showers and sunny spells at times. Drier in the south however later. Temperatures generally near normal at first but becoming rather cool. During the second half of the week and more especially towards the weekend, it looks as though a ridge of High pressure could be building in from the south-west and temperatures recovering to near normal.

Starting off mainly dry with some sunshine across northern and eastern Britain on Saturday, before wet and quite windy weather spreads northeastwards to all parts by Sunday. Starting off quite warm in the east on Saturday, otherwise fairly cool over the weekend. Beyond this weekend, the weather looks set to be remain rather unsettled and changeable with a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers heavy and prolonged in places, especially towards the north and west. Temperatures throughout the period will be generally near to the seasonal average, though fairly warm at times in the south and east during periods of fairer weather. Always disappointingly cool where rain is more persistent, especially in the north and west.

Outlook for Sunday 6 Jul 2008 to Tuesday 15 Jul 2008:

The weather is set to remain very unsettled across the United Kingdom throughout the coming week and into next weekend. The close proximity of low pressure will bring a mix of sunshine and scattered heavy showers on most days, with a likelihood of more prolonged rain at times in association with the passage of weather fronts. The best chance of getting away with a completely dry day will probably be on Wednesday, particularly towards the north and east of the country. On the whole, it will generally feel on the cool side with daytime temperatures slightly below the seasonal norm, although it should feel quite warm when the sun's out. Beyond next weekend there is just a hint that the weather may start to turn more settled again.

UK Outlook for Monday 7 Jul 2008 to Wednesday 16 Jul 2008:

An area of low pressure will remain slow moving across the country into the start of next week. This will give cool and showery weather for all parts, with the risk of some longer and heavy spells of rain. It will also be windy in places, more especially in some western, southern and northwestern parts. The weather will continue unsettled through the rest of next week with further showers or rain. However, temporary ridges of high pressure could give some dry and brighter interludes. Temperatures should be near or a little below average. Unsettled weather is expected to continue through much of the rest of the period although there are signs that high pressure will start to build, giving the promise of some drier and brighter weather.
