Didn't get any snow last night but any rain that fell froze and has stayed frozen all day , the roads and pavements are treacherous, the temp is currently down to -4.5c so i think the -6.8c we got in early december could be beaten.

In this current cold spell the lowest temp was -5.8c on 30th december

currently -6.1c here (9pm)

had a -7 at 8am on New Years Eve and a couple of similar readings during the early December cold spell.

i do not remember an evening however,where the temperature fell away so quickly and feel that if the cloud keeps away and with the slight snow cover we could drop to -8 or even lower.

if that is the case then it will certainly be our coldest night for many years and will certainly make scraping the car windscreen at 6.30am a thing to look forward too.

i dont think oxfordshire was that badly hit, even about 30 miles away just recored slush from brum. i think the best part of it was west of the city. like most snow events in the uk, some got a fair amount, some got little. im not convinced of a -7/-8 even at this rate.

Max Temp today 1.1C. Cloud coverage about 70% but its pretty thin stuff as the moon is only slightly dimmed. Temp has started to fall away quickly, down from -2.8C at 1900 to -5.0C at 2130.

Currently 1.5C here and as usual its cloudy. It seems to be constantly the case here that skies never clear at night. So much so that despite being rather cold we've only managed 5 air frosts this winter, with the temperature dropping below -1C just once!

Much milder this evening in Stockholm! Clouds have formed right now in the sky, making temperatures rise. Today started very cold, with a -16'c at midnight, coldest this far this winter, and it rose by morning to -10'c due to clouds, and stayed around -9'c at noon when clouds disappeared.

With the northerly wind of 11 kts counted within the avg. windchill would have been around -16'c to -18'c during the day.

And now a new package of clouds has arrived and it has hit -6'c, making it the mildest one for some days now.

Tomorrow seems to be quite milder, in the afternoon around -3'c with a weak warm front passing by, i hope that one could give some 5 cm, because it's barely a cm now at the ground. It was a long time ago I saw such cold temps with this tiny amount of snow!
