I noticed that on the radar it looked almost like lake effect snow comming in off the water

Probably 0.01 cm here now. No way I can make it to work tomorrow

Very light/tiny flakes, but it has been continuous since about 8, and very slowly getting heavier. Hoping so anyway.

quit it hehe (although funny!) yous will spoil it when the fun starts? or will you be outside enjoying/digging/building snowmen rather than talking about it...

remember what goes around.. we had lots last year without 'disruption' - but if you're in an area not used to it then it will be more significant, maybe one day others here will see that too and remember why the shop shelves suddenly empty for a very real reaon?.. or as is more likely they won't know the reason and it'll turn into a big dump of fun :) .. in which case ENJOY!

Don't worry I shall be doing what every good student does! Running around the street with cider while screaming and irritating the neighbours.

Did it last long, was it heavy?

I went to bed early and can't really be bothered getting up to have a look unless it's decent!

wasnt anything spectacular, just a 10 min light shower. Tis a good sign tho!

The showers starting to pep up a bit off the east coast?

Radar suggests so. 'very slight' ppn has increased a lot in area over the midland valley eastwards in the past few hours, with hints of heavier stuff moving in?

Guess I will have to sleep before I see any real action though.

Seems to be "light snow" all over the UK.

Pants really if you're in the Red Alert Meto warning cone of destruction!

24 hours from now should see snowfall in these parts and further north, east and west.

"Extreme" snow indeed.

May I point you to the small clip provided: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7863374.stm

:yahoo: = just to add to the sarcasm mode

To be fair i think you should give those in the South East a break, this snowfall is a pretty rare event these days down there and will cause disruption due to high populas and the fact they wont be used to dealing with it.

However the news reporting is a bit over the top as usual, but thats always the case where the South East is concerned.

Looks like our prospects for snow come tuesday onwards according to the 18z GFS.

In heavy persistent snow it don't matter how much grit goes down. Funny watching the south east grind to a halt at a wee bit snaw though.

Im no expert but it may be due to the fact the precip is so light and the air so dry, its not making it down to the surface.

Ugh typical, narrow miss again hahaha. I was finding it weird that the radar was showing precip and yet the RH is only 62%
