Max temp 2.3°C, now dropped to 2.1°C with thick clouds. The frost has melted but the puddles are still thick ice.

Cheshire snow, It's funny you should say that, im looking to the north west now, and those clouds, which I'm presuming you can see were dark...but I dont know if you've noticed, they have turned remarkably white, and I dont think its because the sun is shining on then :whistling:...something white is coming out of them, whether its getting to ground level I dont know!

Am forecast heavy snow tonight, hopefully it comes of, the BBC weather maps are an upgrade in my view, much of inland northern england could well see some snow.

I would imagine snow to low levels in central areas of North of england/Scotland for a hour or two, then the snow line is likely to retreat to about 200-250m. However the band of PPN will move through pretty fast, so over areas for only 2-3 hours at best, so perhaps the band may stay as snow. I'm no expert on this but i would have thought the and could stay as snow for low levels throughout.

No alert or warning from Net Weather. Wonder if the Meto are being too rash ?

Was thinking the same Mondy, surely the W SW peeps would be reporting sleet already, but most places I'm just seeing rain?

I'm reliably informed it's heavy rain in Glasgow City centre now. And, where is the snow showing on latest sat pics / radar shots. We should be able to track it!

That warning is much better than what I expected...

"Outbreaks of rain will turn to snow this evening with accumulation possible of 5 to 10 cm above 150 metres."

I would be surprised to get over 5cm but I wouldn't complain.

It's because netweather copy of the metoffice and well known sites, you'll see netweather posting one soon after meto launched one for the same areas.

Hmmm, it's really odd how it just flew over and dropped nothing!! The radar was showing plenty of echos!

Eyes are fixed to the sky...though I meant to be working!
