currently raining here, how gutting the only time we get a weather warning of heavy snow and its wet icy stuff typical!wallbash.gif so nearwallbash.gif we will have to keep doing the snow dance

It's biting out, massive windchill element going on. THe main problem IMO at the moment is that the precip needs to pep up. There's little cooling effect. It's also very localized.

Exactly - we need the pep up to perform the cooling - but the radar is not showing any increased activity for a while - the wind is not to strong with me hence my concern. I am sure both will happen but the rain is annoying!

dropped to 1.3 degrees here from 2.5 degrees in the last 30 minutes.

If you look at the radar there is a front in the SW, which is coming towards us. This is the front that will hold the most snow potential.

Mid Wales looking best for Snow- Dont expect much at all away from here on low ground

About 550 ft, the Midlands thread isn't any good, too much focus on built up areas, I am a few miles from the Welsh border...

I've given up on Midlands. All full of Staffs, Northants and Brum. Just not relevant to us here in the SW Marchesdrinks.gif

I agree it lacks people from my area (SW part of West Midlands), Worcs and Herefs but hey ho. :)

I regularly check the Wales and SW threads for developments though. :)

Personally I'd prefer a bartlett with tropical south westerlies and heavy rain than this cold damp slushy sleety rubbish.

Nothing here yet hasnt rained/sleeted or the last hour or so now and the wind is blowing a hoolie out there. darker clouds, which confuses me a bit the band is coming from the south west yet the clouds are moving south west? not north west?

It's snowing here, but not sticking anywhere. It started as rain but turned to snow as temperature dropped from 2 to 1C. Very windy as well.

Turning heavier now as the next front comes in and turning increasingly to sleet and snow.

More promising for others as this pushes inland later.

We need the heavier precipitation from the second front, the first was always going to be weak, but it has obviously been delayed by the cold air 'standing its ground'...

Looking at the radar - am I corect in thinking that the front has now stalled just south of Liverpool/Manchester. The latest loop does not extend the PPN any further north?

WelshSnowFan 4.1 deg and now starting to fall
