A smattering of sleet mixed in with the rain.

3.0 C (dropped from a 'high' of 3.1 C )

Looking at the radar - am I corect in thinking that the front has now stalled just south of Liverpool/Manchester. The latest loop does not extend the PPN any further north?

WelshSnowFan 4.1 deg and now starting to fall

There's 2 fronts, the warm front which just passed giving us mainly rain/sleet (now stalled and weakening) and the more potent occlusion now moving in from the SW, which should be much more wintry. However I will believe it when I see it.

The Met Office do have a flash warning for heavy snow for much of the valleys so hopefully all hope is not yet lost.

Looking again at the radar, this second front appears to be fragmenting... is it possible it will envigorate as it approaches us ?

It looks like the first warm front has stopped there, we need the more intense precipitation onthe second front to reinforce now and drop the temperatures to get a transition to sleet/snow.

Heavy Sleet, Temps 2c, all precipitation is now white, but still dropping like rain, if that makes any sense.

Also quite a lot of ice hitting the window.

As this moves across South Wales, I can see this readily turning to heavy snow.

Accumulations may be a problem due to wet ground though.

Sleet earlier. Nothing at the moment. Waiting for next front.

Temp is 1C and dew point -0.3C.

Last Wednesday the ground was very wet but the snow was heavy enough for it to settle.

Shame this front had to come in during the warmest part of the Day.

Doesn't help us in the South at all :unknw:.

EDIT: Wet snow/sleet falling.

Grainey. Needs to beef up to big flakes if it's going to stick.

Proper snow here but its not heavy enough and its not cold enough to stick. It could snow until next year and it still wont stick, it may aswell be raining. Completely useless.

6-12 inches LOL.

Best thing to do in such conditions is to look up, not down - far nicer to see snowflakes falling rather than look at the wet ground. :)

this winter for the Amman Valley is panning out to be absolutely useless. We've done well in nearly every marginal setup now it's pay back places further south lower elevation are having snow and were having really heavy rain andsleet after nearly having snow earlier. I give up stupid bloody weather.

Frurstrating isn't it... most overhyped winter ever so far (for this area at least). I actually did get a decent covering last week but most other areas of Wales haven't even had that so far.

Dew point and temperature dropped rapidly with the sleet turning to snow. Not sticking yet as the ground is wet but expect it to later. That will be fun to drive on - ice under snow.....
