Right, I really don't understand all this dew point and temp stuff so can someone just give me a bit of a run down? I tried to google, ended up on wiki..... and well... wallbash.gif I'm feeling ever so slightly dumb right now.

Looking at that link someone posted for nearby weather stations it says my temp is 3 with a dew point of 3 also. I have a few flakes of snow coming down (it's warm!!) How do the temp and dew point correlate when trying to work out what's optimum for snow?? blush.gif

Ideally the dew point needs to be below zero and temperature less than about 2c for snow falling :unknw:

Dew point really is plummeting here, 0.3c now! Temp is still creeping up though, 2.1c.

Thanks Nick. So mine is miles off and I have some flakes falling...... There doesn't seem to be any rain in it, just some lonely flakes.

Shropshire and Mid Wales was today braced for an Arctic-style battering — with the region set to be gripped by the worst cold snap for 40 years.

Experts are predicting heavy snowfall and strong easterly winds combining to create blizzard conditions — rivalling the big freezes of 1963 and 1979.

well bbc weather just now said 2-5cms for lower areas in wales and 20cms up over the hills, well if thats what the hardest hit region is expected to recieve i can see mass disapointment on here. I think the precip may be there but the temps, both ground and air wont support settling snow for many of us. The graphics also showed no band of snow far the midlands moving north more of a rain and snow mix.
