Midlands Cold Spell Discussion

There's around 1cm across Telford which is better than the dusting we had earlier but the snow looks like clearing soon.

We can safety say after tonight that Shropshire has officially been the worst county for snow not just in the Midlands but the entire UK.

Surely it's not asking for to much for that area of heavy snow hitting the South East (which have already had tons in the past few weeks) to move about 50 miles further north than forecast and slam into us :)

Yeah- just about everywhere except coastal SW England seems to have managed at least 3cm at some point since mid-Dec; at least on the Cornish coast they can rack up 250 hours of sunshine in a month in May/June. Keep telling the other half that it's time to move (BTW decent jobs and reasonably-priced housing are as scarce as snow in this town, it's basically turned into a giant commuter-village-cum-retirement-home); think this will be the straw that broke the camel's back!

Radar says 'NO'...Lampost says 'Yes' :)

Really strange night I think coming up. Really difficult to say how far north this ppn is going to go. 'Segments' of this band look like they have already parts of Leicestershire (perhaps even Leicester).

Could it go futher north...yes in my opinion. However, the difficulty is now that it is starting to pivot. However, if the low pushes further north, there appears to be some good ppn on the eastern side which may carry through.

Difficult. Very difficult.

indeed, very difficult, if I can squeeze out another inch then I'll be happy....I'd like some more snow as well! :)

Plenty more snow heading to Brum up the M40.

Bucketing down here in Banbury, and now I can see how 40cm could be possible.

This is MEGA!

so do you think it will reach the s/w midlands then? and when will it get here?

Judging by the raintoday radar it looks to me that anywhere in that line between Brum and Gloucs could see something from the SE band. Obviously very simplistic but the way it is arcing just looks like it ain't over yet!

Thundersnow reported in Hampshire btw! :cold:

I really think the heavy snow in the SE may come far enough North and clip Birmingham. No thaw here and light snow temp a steady -0.6C

All you people in Shrewsbury/Shropshire pop up the Long mynd if you are desperate!

There was plenty of snow up there all over christmas but the Burway was closed.

Oooh youaggressive.gif

That's nasty

Dont worry, it's been just as crap here in Alrewas - about 1cm tops , the dissappointment compounded by the fact that I work in birmingham 20 miles south where they have 4/5inches"

It looks like it's gonna make to leicester to me .. I can get excited now .

Wouldn't be so sure about that, we may just clip light PPN but it's pivoting big style now, the majority of it is pivoting just below Leicester :shok: So all we will get is scraps from the edge of it.
