Check out the satellite loop the snow band seems to have quite a lot of easterly momentum, I think this could all continue to move further east than suggested by the professional forecasters http://www.sat24.com/gb

The Easterly extent of precipitation has now reached the Eastern Coast line and it appears to be heading North slowly. If this continues I would expect it to reach the Thames in about 30 minutes or so.

I simply can't believe the shape of the low!!!

On radar its AMAZING, you can see its center of circulation near the IoW with a clear slot and strong convection wrapping around the Ne section...honestly that looks rather closer to a hurricane shape then a normal extra-tropical low, its a stunning looking thing right now, I doubt it holds that shape long but thats such an impressive looking system...

I just said the same thing to my son (lived in Florida for 6 years and watched enough cane eyewalls on radar)!:shok:

The radar is showing the band below me moving west, not north. That could be the furthest north it's going to get. Don't think it's going to get any further into Cambridgeshire. I hope I'm proved wrong as I can't believe how close it is

you are currently positioned 10 miles east of where the low is curving round but I suspect the low will shift 50 miles further east in the next hour bringing you into the equation. There is a heavy band to the south going.to hit you / me at around 1030 / 11pm. If that fails join me with your sledge 10 miles west in Stevenage tommorow lol! I have about 2/3cm so far but its getting heavier by the minute,

Hi Tim just caught up on here with your post, I hope you are right but I don't think so, you reckon on 50 miles further East that would be a huge shift. However the band to our South may head North in the next 2 hours.

:cold::lol: Thanks for the input Tim! I appreciate it! When is this heavier 'sweet spot' due to move towards us?

I would guess the heaviest falls would be between 00z and 03z for our area. The astern extension of this will be more significant that the northern extent IMO so people NE of Herts may need some Prozac! Your time will come though!

We may just catch it then!

Is that low alluded to on CountryFile still due to hit us in a few days time ?

:clutchingstraws:

Well Tomasz said it was only a possibility and it doesnt look likely, but apparently N24 said there was a risk of heavy snow on Saturday spreading in from the East...

This band of ppn is swirling/pivoting and just look at the tail end if I can call it that. We could be seeing several hours of very slow moving heavy snow. Tomorrow morning into the afternoon looks very interesting as we maybe under several hours of more snow. This is not taking into account the rest of the snowfall for the rest of the week into the weekend.

cheers yamkin what would your guess be on totals about 5 inches or am i way out lol
