you are currently positioned 10 miles east of where the low is curving round but I suspect the low will shift 50 miles further east in the next hour bringing you into the equation. There is a heavy band to the south going.to hit you / me at around 1030 / 11pm. If that fails join me with your sledge 10 miles west in Stevenage tommorow lol! I have about 2/3cm so far but its getting heavier by the minute.

Might take you up on that lol, we have light snow here now slight dusting

A lamppost watch has revealed a few flakes in the last few minutes, here in Lee, London SE12.

Well done Herts for joining in the party

And worrying signs from the poster above about Thurs & Friday for the Showers, the slack flow has worried me constantly from Sunday about wether the showers would penetrate or be lined up  :wallbash:

Just started to snow. Settling on all surfaces, as still below zero.

Awesome!! Not far from me then

Whats interesting looking at the radar is just how flat the western edge of the band is, its quite amazing how sharpt the cut-off point. This indicates to me a strong frontal system as we can see...

It also means this front still has a bit more NNE motion to go as well.

ps, as for Fleet, thats a very good total, well done!

Well the snow should begin in West London soon, have had a few flakes in the air until now...so near and yet so far! (so far)

I hope so! I am near the edge of that first 'swirl' but yet it skirted me, yet the frontal stuff should hit any minute now.

A nice and clear post, thanks!

So us in st. Albans may get some decent snow?

The way things are going we're in for a fair amount. Very optimistic for High Wycombe, Reading, Marlow, Slough, Aylesbury, Thame.. I think Luton/St Albans will be towards the Eastern extent of things.. Just a matter of watching the radar and hoping for the best really!

Some very intense precip. moving into Portsmouth, anyone know any cams there?

Check out the satellite loop the snow band seems to have quite a lot of easterly momentum, I think this could all continue to move further east than suggested by the professional forecasters http://www.sat24.com/gb

Thats the trouble with living on the coast!

I think later in the night when the wind swings more towards the east, it will change back. Can't complain though, already had five days of lying snow pre -Christmas.

Turning more to snow again now as it gets heavier

Very frustratingly I am in the warm core and it is sleeting now. Hopefully this won't last too long and we will be back in the cold zone soon.

Is there a warm sector? Im more inclined to think its bcoz u r on the coast, & thats to be expected in any coastal loc?

Don't worry, the flow will not be too slack, will take most of Thursday to set up, but you'll get some

A few flakes starting to fall here, just west of Maidstone in Kent. Temp has risen from -2 to -0.3 in the last hour. Hopefully it won't get any higher now the snow has started.

Exactly the same here in Hastings. Temp now 1.3.........why do I feel we're going to miss out on this and in the latter part of the week!wallbash.gif

Because as much as all the others whinge, they dont know how bad local 'warm' climates can be.....
