Snowing lightly here but starting to pick up a bit. Looks like the stuff from the north sea might just get us. Think the bulk of them will go just to the north though.

i thought that stuff up north might get us but i think u r right actually! it will probably just shift n/w of us! how greedy am i? blush.gif

Stopped snowing here now, we've had about 4 inches overnight and there is a very cold northerly blowing down the hill from Byfield. All schools closed, Radio Oxford report the M40 is blocked south of Banbury so hubby can't get to work in south Oxfordshire. Not sure if we're due any more here today but the kids have enough to go sledging so all in all we're pretty pleased. Off to see if I can clear some neighbours pathways - enjoy it everyone, stay safe!!drinks.gif

Snowing moderately here now...i think we get something today. Lots more coming from the north sea and at points a bit further south as well. They should reach us!

its travelling more east to west just recently, that would be very good if it continued, we would end up under the precip for some time then.

well it's snowing here and the radar sint showin it so it could do the trick for you i suppose..plus no signs of major downgrading of the streamer as it moves further inland!

Looking as the sat picture looks like we may get some more in 1-2 hours, it seems to be rotating north not all sinking south.

Yes, the intensity of the snow is increasing but not the size of the flakes!

Looks similar to 2nd Feb 2009 when snow streamed across the Licolnshire coast to us without loosing its oomph. My only worry is the low to the south of us pulling things around and making these showers go more southwards.

But hey...so what if it does? I've got plenty of snow on the ground and a day off work!

My husband did a snow angel in the back garden at half seven this morning to celebrate our snow day! I can't see it anymore though!

Snowing heavily in Northampton! These showers heading towards us from the north are quite intense. :D

What size flakes do you have?!

coming down very nicely here, the radar worrys me, 1 min moving south then the next update shows it going almost due west which is exactly what we need for all of us. Even if that means people further south dont get the snow immediately it will prolong it for some and still move south at some point. better for those further west aswell obviously.

Big thick flakes now.

Not far off 50p size flakes at times. Looking at the radar these showers from the NE will persist for some time. Yep, we'll quite happily settle (excuse the pun) for Peterborough's leftovers!

11cm of snow on the grass ive recorded just now :drinks:! thats 3cm fall in the last hour or so! i think its about 7/8cm on the pavements and about 2/3cm on the roads where its been compacted.

The wildlife in our garden is appreciating the food we have put out! The woodpigeon seems incredibly confused by this snow though...

Briefly popped outside and I reckon there is a good 2" on the ground, which is brilliant!

Roughly same here although wouldnt say 3cms yet today although the way its coming down now will quickly build up. yesterdays snow on most pavements isnt that deep because it took so long to fall its constantly been compacted by people walking on it. Still should mean it will be here a while now and less likely to melt to easy.
