Very heavy snow now - wind fair blowing as well which is stirring things up as well.

Im in Royston, (south/west york border).

Had to laugh went out with my daughter for a walk the roads thick with slush cars crawling, council in the graveyard gritting it!! :whistling:

Had to take dog to the vet last night, went up hill out of Hemingfield (not 4 wheel drive) got stuck on the steepest bit, passers by got us going again. Dearne Valley Parkway by cortonwood was like a mountain pass. Snow steady here now, but not heavy - there's another shower on the radar by york, might hit us in a bit - looks bigger.

Think that shower just bypassed us. It went dark, started snowing, looked very promising but now that suns come out again and its stopped :whistling:

Wow - really heavy now - pity the radar suggests it will only last 15 minutes - should get a good cm out of this

morning folks

Yet another favour from me PLEASE?

would you mind giving me, again I know, your snow depths from yesterday only IF you can differentiate from any previous fall.

I'd be grateful for any pm's along with your post code as well.

Many thanks if you can do that-and PLEASE try not to exaggerate, as with a detailed report

a) it will be obvious and

:good: your report might well not appear when I EVENTUALLY get round to writing up this snowfall.

very many thanks.

With the permission of the two mods in this area if I may I'll repeat this until it seems I have most reports in?

A few flakes have started here now ... Temp is at 0.1 ... Dew point is -1.59 ... can anybody clarify what snowfall distribution there will be tomorrow? ... The BBC seemed quite bullish yesterday of there being prolonged and heavy showers for all of the regio but looking at the GFs, the low seems to enter alot further south. Who is liable to be correct?

Snowfall last night in Cleckheaton area was approx 1 inch. I didn't measure it but it was to the second joint on my index finder! This was taken from on top of my car which was totally clear of snow last night.

Sorry - postcode area is BD19 / WF15 border

he's coming up north to mine on Monday for 10 days as we are setting up an office for the business with a new partner, i hope he gets here because theres more forecast down there overnight Saturday into Sunday!

Ill get some pics off him when i can.

Also to John Holmes, sent you a private message mate, if you need anymore pics or info just ask. I'll upload all my pics of the snow later to my web server and drop you the link.

Near blizzard conditions here (S6) just now - in addition to the heavy snow we have a strong and gusty wind blowing all the snow off the trees.

Snowfall between 0000 and 0200hrs in LS7 was approximately 3/4 inch, taken from the top of the car - I had cleared the previous lot just before the snowfall started before a trip out. On my return there was also half an inch in place of the vacated, previously clear parking spot. so I would say an inch and a half in total between midnight to 3am. Hope these sums add up. If not, feel free to have a go!

BTW, another light shower here in Leeds right now so some of the showers are reaching us!

Snowing in Holbeck too. Looking on the radar, shouldn't last too long though!

Very heavy snow now with large flakes is a swirling wind.

Slowing down now, with a clearance to the north east. Looking at the radar this will be the last of the snow for a while now in Leeds.

Intermittent light snow showers here, not amounting to anything. Odd heavier burst thrown in with lots of graupel and hail. A sign of the colder 850's becoming established.

I really hope the ECM verifies and the gfs is somwhat wrong. Otherwise I cant see much more heavy snow here..

I think the bbc/local forecasts cant have too much confidence in the gfs at the moment.
