night time doesen't always mean a temperature drop though  Temps may just hover around 0-1c for the rest of the night and the slow thaw will continue.

Noo dont put this down ahha  we need to be optimistic.

There was only really flooding in 2007. But cool and wet is far more comfortable than searing heat and sleepless nights.

Cool and wet

What about when my tennis season starts in spring! Want a mostly dry summer please

I am taking a keen interest in the precip that has popped up between Peterborough and Cambridge, seems to be pepping up a bit with the stuff just north of London and should be heading straight for the west mids.

Nick, what is your current temp and dp?? Being as you are not far away from me.

Washing away half the cricket season? Not a chance! You can get rain whenever (one reason I like snow too). A blazing hot summer please! Though just for the South of England - everyone else can have what they want, just so long as we're regularly in the high 20s!

Here I am moaning about the heat, when I am going to Florida in July

At least they have air conditioning I guess, and whopping storms!

Back to the Midlands cold spell discussion...still snowing on and off here and still nothing settling, this has to be the most snow I have ever seen fall without ANY settling.

Golfstar71 - 0.3c and -0.8c respectively.

Yes, with this cloud cover, temperatures may not fall away at all. If the thaw does continue throughout the night, it could get quite foggy by morning?

I want a hot summer so all the "Global Warming" followers have something to talk about again :pardon:

Or because I love sitting outside with a nice bottle of lager when it's 30c and sunny... yeah, that's it :drinks:

Tues/Weds event looks good for the Midlands. Favourable conditions for a mainly snow event. The mild uppers have gone. And with a front battling to make it across the country, there could be some major falls of snow in parts.

This could be the near perfect event for us. A quasi-stationary front.

Seems to be the odd flake again. The hills and distance have misted up again.

Thought i just noticed a couple of snowflakes too.

I can't see any hills from my house, so hard to see what is approaching.

Well according to 2 radars that i have looked at, the wind is a straight E now, the very odd snowflake falling here for the past few hours, quite a bit of thawing today too, but temp has dropped back off now, still waiting for this snow event to happen, metO has no time schedule for this one today it seems.

yes i have just noticed the precip building up, have been working so unable to post

Good news here is that thaw has stopped and settling has started. not that there's alot about, but at least it's not melting on hitting stuff now

I'm not going to write this event off just yet - didn't the GFS show the heavier pptn to appear over the Midlands around midnight and stay there until 6am tomorrow?
