Salter? Gritter? not seen one of them in weeks!

Not gritters, they've been renamed in the last couple of weeks by ToddlerCatch: "Orange Nee-Naws". As in a police car being a Nee-Naw...

You see what happens, no snow for a few weeks and we've got loads of new terms for things

Edit: Completely white outside, except for the bright orange snow filled sky :good::(

Sleet usually refers to a mixture of snowflakes and raindrops (although in the US, sleet refers to snow grapuals/ice pellets).

I can see why it would be confusing, though.

Edit: Reply from frostyjoe's post.

ok what would rain with ice in it be??

I suppose I would class that as sleet or icy rain.

Edit: CatchMyDrift beat me to it.

Percy the snake! I love it. That's one to remember for next winter: "I've got a Percy on the lamp-post". Anyway, I wonder who will be next to hit TOORP level 5??

I think LadyPakal has the most appropriate sig for the lat 24 hours!!! laugh.gif

Sleet. If it's raindrops with ice in it on the window it's defo sleet.

ok then thanks... but thats gonna take quite a long time to turn to snow! As long as it turns to snow for the morning... as maxes tomorrow will be pretty low and we will start to get snow lying by end of day..

Monds, you got your tennis rackets ready for the mornings round? rolleyes.gif

We'll be needing baseball bats to get to the bread and milk tomorrow morning if this snow keeps on.

Still sleet here! Temp is still creeping down though, now at 1.8c! The M77 and mate are both covered with snow amd pelting it down, tomorrow is going to be a gfuqhgfpjh of a commute :) (Accident on M77 already!) Pretty annoying considering that is relatively low level cam's, hopefuly the cold air is still under-cutting from the NW.

Don't fancy the matey either, most of the slip roads now closed for 10 weeks so once your on, no way off!!!

Still belting down here, 4" and rising!

Well enjoy the snow guys :) None of that down here, temps look like staying in double figures for most of the week - the difference a few hundred miles can make drinks.gif

The contrast between North and South right now is amazing. It is mild here, got the big window wide open and i'm roasting. It is 10c according to Xcweather and 300 miles North and it is chucking it down with snow :)

Madness! One of the biggest transformations I have seen!

Went to bed around 11 last night and it felt mild out, 9.2c to be exact. It was 11.2c 12 hours ago.

Now moderate to heavy snow, 1.0c DP 0.5c, with about half an inch of snow on the ground! :)
