same here Pat....some nice beefy showers setting off over the Pennines and the border.....If I was a god, I'd throw up a big mountain range over say, Wolverhampton, and watch storms explode towards me....lol.....of course, there are those out there who'd think burying wolverhampton under a mountain range is a pretty good idea anyway without the storms.... :good:

I'll fetch me coat...

Just had a very brief warm light shower, a few large rain drops on the patio but nothing else.

Let's see it all disappear on the next run! Does look very impressive for next weekend but we all know charts tend to get downgraded. I suspect it won't be as extreme as GFS is showing just now (Although if it's still there by wednesday then I'll begin to believe it's possible)

Just looked at the 10day weather forecast for my area, next saturday it says 30C with an 81% chance of storms, that would really be amazing! Seeming this weekend looks like nothing will happen for here, it would be really good if somehow it happens next weekend

What are the chances of anything kicking off this evening? Warm rain here with huge drops, but the Meto warning doesn't mention thunder.

Heard a couple of rumbles of thunder in the last 10 minutes.

A nice line of thundery showers developing and spreading north-east.

ROFL! i need to change my avatar!

Great news! The showers are getting heavier here now, but no thunder yet. I'm going to go outside, but I've got a horrible feeling it'll all slip to my south and I'll miss out by 10 miles.

Edit: very distant rumble of thunder.

I note that there is a sea breeze, hence temperatures of only 16-18C today at South Shields. This means that some convergence will be setting up across inland areas which will increase the chances of heavy showers, merging to longer spells of rain at times, becoming widely electfified, though I think the rain will be more of a prominent feature than the thunder.

However I expect that precipitation and thunder activity will tend to fizzle out as it reaches the coast, again due to the sea breeze, so probably nothing more than a sprinkling of rain at places like South Shields.

Just heard another rumble of thunder, after seeing a flash of lightning to my south. I might not have noticed if I hadn't been expecting some :D

Looks like Tyne and Wear will miss out, with Durham getting some decent downpours this evening. Deja vu.

Edit: Sunderland may clip a storm looking at raintoday.

i highly doubt any big thunderstorms over the next few days despite the heat, definitely exceeding 30C in london. The air mass is pretty dry and stable atm. Im hoping sometime next week we will get the big thundery breakdown!

Am surprised at the showers on the radar, mostly because of constant cloud cover. Anyway 3 down-pours in last few hours, with a temperature of 25.c, very tropical feeling.

Looking quite good for us Scots today. There are already a number of showers around although it is very cloudy and therefore difficult to see what is going on - not likely to be photogenic storms then.

Met Eireann says a slight risk of some thunderstorms today. Not much showing on the radar yet, although we had a very short, sharp shower just 5 minutes ago.

It will be interesting to see whether those showers make it over to the west coast from ni. They look pretty heavy! I'm in kilmarnock for the weekend.

Had a quite strong shower here not that long ago (Which seemingly formed out of nothing) No thunder/lightning though. Quite interesting to note despite being really quite breezy all day long? The wind has died back to nothing like it was yesterday. No more showers looking like they are on the horizon (For now)
