Biggest mistake she made is saying god was a 'he' - ultimate fail! By suggest god was a he, she has succumbed to a flaw that is prevalent in a patriarchal society - that god is a 'he'. I believe this disproves her story alone.

i'm not religious at all but the bible, the whole basis of christianity, says that god is a he. the suggestion that god might be a 'she' is a modern pc feminist notion.

i think the fact that the 'aliens' are the standard 'little grey men' with big eyes, wearing star trek uniforms and she sounds like a standard nutter anyway, goes a lot further to disprove the story than a political incorrectness

Have you considered that SP might be a Wiccan?

In the great words of Stephen Hawking, if we made contact with aliens "I think it would be a disaster. The extraterrestrials would probably be far in advance of us. The history of advanced races meeting more primitive people on this planet is not very happy, and they were the same species. I think we should keep our heads low." Genius. I think it would be backward to think we were the only intelligent life form in a virtually infinite universe.

As for UFO's one has to keep in mind most or even all sightings are identifiable as non-alien, as mysterious as they may seem to the viewer.

My comment was merely stating that religion is a social construct and therefore suggesting that the woman who partook in the activity may have been swayed by her religious beliefs. For example, if it was me in that situation, I may have acknowleged what I had was a dream, whereas the way she acknowledged it, was as if it it were the truth and it had happened.

I'm not a follower of any religion by the way and don't believe in a 'god'.

Quite right - The term UFO means unidentified flying object which can cover quite a range from optical illusions to strange weather phenomena outside the viewer's experience, or simply something unexplained - it does not necessarily mean little green men from the planet Zog.

Because there aren't any that can't be explained by perfectional rational earth-bound phenomena?

The thing is, that statement isn't quite true.....

If you'd have said "nearly all can be explained" then I'd agree. There will always be the odd one that never fits into our clear cut ideas of what is rational or even earth-bound. Until the evidence is provided that we know what any of these things are, they will remain "unidentified".

After watching the videos that Yamkin posted its pretty obvious that some didn't even bother watching them. If you're going to reply at least make the effort to watch the videos!

Fair point Dave.

But, after thirty-odd years' of being subjected to claim and counter-claim, the Condon Report, alien autopsies, etc. etc. etc., one has gotten a little bored of reading articles and scrolling through endless videos claiming to prove something. Quite what they're trying to prove is unclear, however. Could the US, British and NATO forces have not attempted to cover up their development of 'stealth' fighters, for example? Then there were the Soviets, the French...There was the Cold War going on.

I, for one, cannot dismiss the (however vanishingly small) possibility that these 'mysterious' craft are indeed alien (as that is what these people are hoping for). But any evidence for that assumption remains entirely nonexistent, so far.

And another thing, that I find interesting, is that now we have digital cameras and vidoerecorders readily available, so many of the published pictures remain blurred and indistinct...

My son & I saw a UFO on the 16th August 2011 at approx 20:30 hrs. I contacted the famous Nick Pope. He advised me to contact a company who specialises in UFO sightings and I registered the sighting.

Here's some interesting UFO info..............

I don't know what the graphic parts of the video are supposed to represent but the ordinary video looks similar to a phenomena I saw on the TV once - IK believe they are called sprites - it occurs in cu nimb which have the capacity for lightning and as well as having the lightning going towards the ground or to other parts of the cloud, there are flashes which go upwards from the top of the cloud. It's quite common I believe. The below may refer:

Quote

"Mysterious UFO sightings may go hand in hand with a puzzling natural phenomenon known as sprites — flashes high in the atmosphere triggered by thunderstorms.

The dancing lights have appeared above most thunderstorms throughout history, but researchers did not start studying them until one accidentally recorded a sighting on camera in 1989.

"Lightning from the thunderstorm excites the electric field above, producing a flash of light called a sprite," said Colin Price, a geophysicist at Tel Aviv University in Israel. "We now understand that only a specific type of lightning is the trigger that initiates sprites aloft."

Researchers have detected the flashes between 35 and 80 miles (56-129 km) from the ground, far above the 7 to 10 miles (11-16 km) where usual lightning occurs. Sprites can take the form of fast-paced balls of electricity, although previous footage has suggested streaks or tendrils.

The cause or function of the flashes remains murky, but Price suggested that they could explain some of the UFO reports which have cropped up over the years. That might provide some solace for UFO enthusiasts disappointed by human-caused hoaxes in the past.

Both jetliner pilots and astronauts have previously reported sightings of sprites, along with a different but equally mysterious phenomenon known as blue jets.

Price and his colleagues have focused on "winter sprites" which appear only in the northern hemisphere's winter months. Their remote-controlled roof-mounted cameras can spot thunderstorms producing sprites far out over the Mediterranean Sea.

Triangulation techniques have also allowed the researchers to calculate the dimensions of the sprites.

"The candles in the sprites are up to 15 miles high, with the cluster of candles 45 miles wide — it looks like a huge birthday celebration!" Price said.

Sprites may have some effect on the Earth's ozone layer, but researchers suspect that the global impact is small."

There was a video on youtube of some craft near a haboob, they seemed to follow the dusty outflow from the storm, not sure if this has been mentioned here already..
