3 very short sky flashes coming in land from the sea towards Plymouth in the last minutes.... and that's it

Confirming Chapmanslade and Andy, it's quiet in Westbury - I'd even say it's brightened up a bit, although it is of course 9.30, and how bright can it get ;) But it is noticeable.

Aye lynxys the sat image looks very impressive in biscay, huge circular anvil showing up. Not sure if it's a single severe storm or a huge developing MCS. Worth watching though.

Thanks for reporting in guys...

Good stuff. Sorta confirms that the cells are giving thunder down there...

The stuff coming into the bay of biscay as the moment is HUGE!

I swear one of the cells is like the size of Cornwall.

Good sign that theres plenty of stuff down there ready to get here :)

Yes but the leftover cloud from some of the Biscay MCS's may ruin our day a bit on Saturday

Severe thunderstorm just passing to the north now, had torrential rain and gusty winds with fork lightning about every 30-40 sec at one point.

That must have been the lightening I saw on the radar James, nothing here yet just a short sharp shower, it went dark early though.

Just awoken from 30mins kip. Think i'm going to be in/out of bed tonight looking at whats coming out of the Bay of Biscay, getting increasingly larger on IR every pass. Shorter-duration however the Birmingham cells are becoming sustained with continual activity being reported from these parts. Night has truly set-in here nearly, so I await with baited breath.

Don't very often do this (in fact I don't recall us ever running something like this on the forums). But since the UK has been pretty much storm starved in recent years, to mark this weekend perhaps ending the famine, I've setup some special offers for the 5 minute radar and majority of the other subscription options we have :)

Just use the offer code UKSTORM on the payment page once you've registered.

https://www.netweath...gi-bin/login.pl

How do you upgrade if you have the radar only package (3.49 one?)

You can have a free 7 day upgrade as part of the service - just drop us an email to team[at]netweather.tv wth your username to get that setup, or alternatively if you want a more permanent upgrade just email in with the subscription details of the one you want to upgrade to and we'll arrange that for you.

The storm near Salisbury looks pretty epic on the radar! Any updates from that area?

Here's a useful lightning detector site that gets data from the Met Office... someone posted it on here a few days ago:
