Glencoe are palnning to and had piste bashers out yesterday, Also Nevis may open early, Cairngorm will probably be open. Weather looks calm on Saturday. However all resorts are awaiting the result of the storm before a decision is made on Friday. I am planning Coe or Nevis. The west has the best snow while Cairngorm has a thinner base. If Nevis is open head there as it will be awesome powder..I am hoping to go Sunday!

Glencoe will be open Saturday which will be a sublime day. They've actually announced they'll be opening Friday too but I'm a bit doubtful on account of the wind.

There should be plenty of snow for it though. This is me gliding through the powder on Sunday just gone after coming off the Spring Run ....

cold and breezy day - though nothing compared to what is coming. some squally wintry weather blowing through but nothing to get too excited about.

Plenty of potential in the longer term models it seems too....

runs filling in at all ski resorts in Scotland. Glencoe making noises of opening at the weekend.

What is the extent of the warm up when this front comes in tomorrow? With snow forecast until noon in some parts, then rain, then back to snow, is there a chance places with elevation could see snow throughout the day without the rain soaked interval?

Cracking pic Moffatross :good: not been down to Glencoe for a couple of years, my favorite resort for the views on the decent though, beautiful setting

This morning someone was asking me why there was nothing on Met Office site, so I guess it changed as they were programming the track of the low.

Closer to the time this site will give some excellent Hi resolution pics of the system, right now the NW flow throwing the odd winter showers into the west. http://saturn.unibe.ch/rsbern/noaa/dw/realtime/current/n1bcurr.jpg

The smoothest satellite run built by the Norwegian Meto is here http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html the NW > SE tilt on the Jet Stream and fibre clouds is very clear here.

Bring these up in conjunction with the latest Fax charts.

Also for a quick view of wind speeds in real time try http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Here is a screen grab of the satellite pic and the surface plot from 20 minutes ago which shows the location of the systems.

A cold gusty wind here today. A sheet of black ice over side roads and pavements this morning and a slight cover of snow in higher parts of the city.

4 inches of snow up at my mums in Aberfeldy this morning though she said that it is pretty wet stuff.

What will tomorrow bring?
