Quite high and very rural northumberland here with perfectly calibrated equipment

I wasn't calling your report into question. :good: Just seems like a discrepancy between all PWS on wunderground and some non-rural reports in here.

It's at meto height and it tells perfect readings, out of the sun all day and I have never had any problems with it. I can assure you it's accurate :)

Btw, nearby Great Lumley is at -1.3c and it is 20m higher than me so I'd say mine looks pretty good.

Fair enough - genuinely no issues here. :) But when a report is a good 2°C below any wunderground report and not in a known frost hollow, you can understand the scepticism. :) Why don't you send your data to wunderground btw?

I temporarily did- but I turn the mac off every night; so can't keep it running all night, unless you know any other ways of keeping it up without wasting electricity :p

DOesn't really matter. You wunderground site will just be missing data overnight. I plan to start turning the dedicated laptop off at night in the future too.

Frost starting to develop in Newcastle now.

Don't have a thermometer but feels nice and clear/crisp/dry out there.

If you ain't got snow then this is the next best thing I suppose!

Not the same I know, but mine is here: http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=ITYNEAND7 (until the website goes live). Wind not accurate until it goes on the roof next week but everything else should be spot on

A guide to snow reporting on netweather/TWO/etc for the forthcoming night/season as a whole.... take the snowfall rate ("blizzard conditions"; "whiteout") and the snow depth ("7" at least!"), reduce by 75%, and you might have something close to reality.

BBC NATIONAL

Showed wintry trough over our region mainly of snow 5am onwards throughout the morning and mentioned it down to quite low levels

Another non-event lads I'm afraid, well for low lying north east areas anyway.

One can dream ...

Personally Im certain on the precipitation in our region pretty much but whether it will be snow or not is another question altogether!

Now this isn't a ramp but Local Forecast On BBC then was SNOWY for us with sleet and snow across the region but this is so marginal and one way or the other it is down to the wire....

Freezing fog, -1C. I expect it'll rise soon as the cloud increases.
