3.0c/-1.6c wind SE. I thought it would have been much colder by now?

In reply to CSS, I'd start with a little rampling before going for a good dumpling - deep-fried, with a flake (or two) please.

And a few days like this:

would be cool.

Finally, we're down to 1.4/-0.1C. Still showers around, as there have been all night, so eastern areas have a chance of seeing lying snow as the day progresses.

Currently -0.5c with a fresh SE wind so frost being enhanced ground freezing hard and no mud Great!!! Lower humidities will help reduce bug problems in cattle and dry frozen ground will help both cattle and sheeps feet as we have had a few footrot problems with all the wet weather.

Morning all

1C/-2C here. cold enough for snow I'd hope but been dry all night. Looking out the window to the rather threatening looking north sea there looks like the potential and rain radar agrees. But nothing organised enough yet. Fingers crossed for other east coasters.

right, off to look in the model thread and see if there are any northerlies on the cards yet. this may hurt.

Good moaning! Just had a peep in the MT as the 06z is now being commented on. The overnights are a bit split in their outcomes, with the GFS 00z being very positiv again. The post by RJS will give you goosebumps! and perhaps make you want to do a bit of panic buying!!

1.5c here at the moment. Sun is out, but there is plenty snaw on the surrounding hills, almost no wind. There were a couple of rogue flakes on the car this morning.

OMG p Blitzen just read RJ's post!! heck!!(for edodfc - 99% of country should have prior warning of major weather events/ cold & snow now) prepare prepare prepare - yikes i think i feel sick with my nerves - i'm not even finished the thread yet - But the upshot is more snow for the east and a moer direct flow - better prospects imo. Feeling like a bit of a RAMP.

Attached linky shows snow incoming much earlier

If the chart verifies it will be great for SE England especially, as well as East Anglia and Yorkshire across to the Midlands - don't think we would get much from that in Scotland, though it would be cold (but then I think we are better prepared and used to coping with cold conditions than our southern relatives hence RJS' post for the need for plenty of public warning).

Well the good thing is it's a nice cold fresh week. However snow chances are very poor for scotland until Saturday. Having said that the models, bbc and meto change on a daily basis. :sorry:

Desperately trying to deflate the Black Isle's snowshield but without success. Snow haters' paradise for the next week.

RJS is a bit of an old trouser leg taker eh! NFCOTCO. :p

Was wondering why we had an alert for -6c. Is that not when we contemplate looking out the jumper, or in BM's case extra thermals.

Nice cold sunny winters day, anyone seen Dennis Quid walking aboot? ;)
