Although I'm in the southeast atm, I'm hoping it stays further west to give the West Country a good dump! I think, although it isn't showing just yet, that with the sheer strength of that block to the east, the front will probably be further west than the models and BBC are currently showing in which case the West Country would be in firing line. By the time any precipitation gets over to the southeast it will have lightened considerably anyway.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the cold air moves back east while we have precipitation over us, meaning rain, only for the cold air to sweep back west after the weekend and we end up back like we have this week, cold and dry!

No chance of it snowing here, before it getting mild next week

Don't get negative :) no one knows exactly what's going to happen yet.

Mild?? All models now point towards a colder outlook for the foreseeable now! Cornwall excepted perhaps! Different levels of cold yes, but nothing above average and in more northern and eastern parts of the region remaining below average

I agree to an extent although the latest GFS is not that great for most of the South West for example a week today it has 11 degrees in Cornwall . Although i am also of the opinion that could change as the models firm up on this breakdown low ... 80% of guidance at the minute is not good for us getting any Snow on Saturday our last remaining hope is the ECM that still lets Eastern parts of our region join in the fun...

Yes, Cornwall and Devon are prone to milder incursions, but the north and east of our region still look to have colder influences to the weather! Saturday snow, a no no!

Typical the rest of the country talking of massive snow and everthing going sideways.

Cornwall gets rain.

I can remember a few years back watching tv coverage of the hottest day on record people sun bathing in London.

In Cornwall, you guessed it rain.

I'm spotting a pattern.

Sill plan for the worst hope for the best!

It is true that since I have been living in the SW I notice it is one of the Wettest places in the UK , Even in my part of the SW the Mist and drizzle you get off the Bristol Channel is never ending . In Cornwall you even get the weather fronts that are not even destined for the Uk but just clip you ... South East will probably be my next move in a few years . :)

Points west weatherlady just said snow Saturday, but she said it really quickly, you could see it in her eyes that she was thinking that the quicker she said it the less likely people would notice.

Was that Jemma Cooper? About as much use as a chocolate teapot!

What was your minimum up there Mullender?

-4.2c here making it the coldest since Christmas Night 2010 and I'm expecting lower tonight.

Met office have a warning out for snow on saturday for SW

They sure do, further east of our region are still in the snow warning for Sunday too, who knows what will happen, there will be more twists and turns over the next 48 hours.
