I might be heading towards yate in a few hours time maybe a slightly better chance than here especially towards chippen sodbury.

Yeah can see Chipping Sodbury getting a few cm's they normally do especially around old sodbury, radar says I have sleet over me at the moment but nothing is falling from the sky as of yet!

The rain will be knocking on my door soon according to nw radar. It's raining in Bridgwater. Anyone confirm this?

Snowing again on the hill here in Weston, settling slightly also, flakes aren't very big though.

I could count the number of flakes fallen in the last ten minutes. Where is the intensity!!!!?

Anyone on a pc (raintoday.co.uk) to see where it is all going?

Main band has only started to reach western somerset! Its along way off yet for you so just feel lucky you have one of the flurrys ahead of the main feature :good:

I don't get it. Why does the nw radar say rain, when it is snowing?

Its very patchy on its front edge the main band isnt far away now just about on the border of wales/england and the bristol channel.

Patience, the front is not here just yet, the slower it comes in the better and the more chance of the cold front behind catching up the warm one in at the front.

Is it snowing in Wells ? I'm in Glastonbury and nothing here :( Was thinking of taking a drive up the mendips in the hope of seeing something.

Crazy its gone from -7 to +1 and not a flake :(

Ignore the radars ppn type in situations like this. It isnt detecting what actualy falls its a guide

Nope it's snowing.

Well it was lol but nothing falling at the moment. I am guessing temp rising as what was on the pavements is now melting, but anything that has fallen from the sky in the last couple of hours has fallen as snow.

The main band of snow is still to come?

a quick comparison with the midday radar (thanks to NW) and the 06Z nae and gfs shows that.

gfs is far out underestimating the amount of snow and sleet, but has the speed pretty right.

nae is closer but is still underestimating the amount of snow and sleet and most western places, again it has the speed etc pretty accurately.

so we might well see more snow than forecasted for our areas...
