Just seen the model chat thread and seriously this month could be VERY special for yorkshire! Easterly setting in by next thursday with better snow potential!!!! then greeny high blocking pattern with a massive north easterly out break! AMAZING!

Damn. I can't see there being too much of a thaw though.

The general consensus is for the Scandi high to retrogress towards Greenland and then a notable trough digging down the N.Sea, bringing in a more North Easterly type pattern, whilst temps do not look bitterly cold there is more precipitation about from these events and that can mean somewhere can receive a lot of snow over the next couple of weeks should it pan out as the models are looking.

One final last bow here snow just become moderate with some rather large flakes!!

8 hours of snowfall in the end (1-9) so not that long but got 2-3 inches.

Overall i would give this a 6/10 however it was a tale of two halfs with a fairly poor first half before the front went on steroids and we saw the heaviest snowfall in Leeds since 7th Jan 11.

The back end was certainly brilliant and what was even better was how the temperature stayed below freezing.

Temperatures have nose dived here, after rising to -1.4c we are currently at -2.9c and dropping.

I suspect there will be a red extreme weather warning for Monday morning, drizzle expected at -3.c, alot of black ice likely.

Explain this one, currently snowing on DN17 at 01:15hrs, the wind according to xc weather is southerly/southeasterly, i've watched a line of showers from 0055hrs from north of the humber travel south to where my postcode is, snow blowing in the wind from east to west???

Just checked local weather station and showing an easterly wind, has swung round from a south westerly in the last hour or so.

Morning all! Don't you just love waking up to a thick blanket of snow on a sunny Sunday morning? I see the BBC website is giving Church Fenton the Number 1 spot with 16cm which I believe was reported on here last night. I'm about 8 miles west of there, 8 miles east of Leeds and I've measured an average of 14cm this morning, though its difficult to find somewhere that hasn't drifted. Drifts of over a foot in our garden is quite impressive I reckon! Anyway here's some pics of the garden and street and the last one hopefully shows just how much it got blown into piles. Have a great day everyone...

BB
