Good call by the Met O on snow depths, even if the timing was slightly earlier than expected looking at the models.

Up early to take the kids sledging in the morning :drinks: !!

The snow arrived here three hours early, However if it had, i wonder if we would have had so much.

Just been listening to the news on Radio Five Live and they say that there is a 25 mile queue on the M62. Anyone know anything about this? On a night like this this is a dangerous situation. Here the temp is minus two and the wind is still blowing hard. This means that once you are outiside it is bitterly (dangerousy) cold.

yes I love watching dogs hurtle through the snow with their nose in it, then stop and throw their heads up to try and catch it off their nose-I had a beagle who did that every time it snowed.

Winter does have it's casualties though John...frozen dog anyone :-)

The snowy Westwood does that to my dogs too :-) Looking forward to sledging in the morning. Still snowing out there but I think the wind has eased a little.

15cm (6 inches) here near malton. Just been out in the 4x4 into the wolds. Ended up skidding backwards down a hill. Very scary but I'm alive. Snow stopped and temp -0.8c. Gonna go dalby forest tomorrow it should be beautiful.

Due to the powdery nature of the snow and the blowing wind, I actually have a few bits of the drive which have no snow cover. The car roof is clear also still. About 2-3 inches on the grass though and drifts against the driveway wall of 8-12 inches :p Snow just about dying out now...

The heaviest of the snow has passed over now and we have a variable depth of around 8-10cm with some quite substantial drifting. Ill make a proper measurement in the morning, but its a pretty decent fall which goes some way to making up for the abysmal winter so far!

Its cold too at -1.2C and 96% humidity. The trip to work tomorrow morning will be interesting to say the least.

This is the first time i can remember where a front from the west has produced such powdery snow on the coast and not started thawing straight away.

It's still going here in Louth, though lighter now, and blowing around in the breeze.
