Wow just been out in it and its fantastic, drifts of what must be more than a foot and where it is level i would say around 3,4 and 5 inches

Loving it :D

light snow again here in Leeds - not sure how or why because radar suggests it should be dry, but some showers seem to be emerging from the North York Moors so who knows, maybe a surprise follow up shower or two. Doubt it will produce anything though!

Its coming down very heavily here now. Its rather difficult to measure the level depth as it is blowing around and drifting so much. Its a pretty sizable dumping though!

Some light stuff over towards Leeds and Bradford on the radar.

Wait til morning unless you're doing a midnight reading.

Well after approx 1 hour of moderate snow, it has now stopped in Barnsley, and we now have about 2cm. Overall a major disappointment...particularly given other areas of Yorkshire have done really well with 5-15cm.

Models looking promising for next few weeks, so hopefully we'll get something moving in from the east rather than west so we avoid the snow shield we've experienced today.

I went out in it an hour or so ago. Icy rain then (with some big fat icy snowflakes). All done now, I think. Might be the odd light shower overnight? What's fog likely to do to all the snow? Would like to go out for a walk in it tomorrow ideally!

We never had any drifting because the wind never got up here, strangely.

Yep been snowing lightly here for past hour, very small flakes so unlikely to add anything to snow cover.

Temperatures rising fast: -1.6c

In the north of sheff we have ended up with a respectable 8cm average covering. Similar readings across even some of the lower ground in the city. Pleased that we did so well even though it came from the west. Im now looking forward to next week...maybe!

Considering how slow it started it was a very good forecast.

GFS way out of sync regarding where the precipitation should be.

I don't care as long as the rest of the run is right.

yes I love watching dogs hurtle through the snow with their nose in it, then stop and throw their heads up to try and catch it off their nose-I had a beagle who did that every time it snowed.

Good call by the Met O on snow depths, even if the timing was slightly earlier than expected looking at the models.

Up early to take the kids sledging in the morning :drinks: !!

Update 22.10

6-8" Drifts but a level 2-3" of snow and still falling, the wind has played a big part tonight, reports of many of the big hills around here like Cadwell Hill, and hills around Lincoln been extremely tricky if not impassable.
