Just been out - moderate snow still - estimate 7-8cm.

Temperatures 0.2c - so was able to hear the dreaded drip-drop...

Front probably crossing fater than expected and mixing in less cold air perhaps?

@Paul Sherman and nw Londoners:

Sorry to say but I think the 8cms reported in barnet by someone is an exaggeration. I have 4cms currently and am about at the highest altitiude in barnet. I took a pic with tape measure if required lol. A pic of the 8cm would be great pls:P

Thats a bit harsh. The fact you are on the highest point in Barnet is pretty irrelevant to be honest. Its pretty breezy out, and snow could be collecting in lower spots as a result. Its currently 6cms where I live, and several other posters are now reporting similar snow depths or higher from north/west London and the suburbs. I see no reason to doubt folk. Can't we just enjoy what we have, and are still getting :drinks:

Looking at the radar it seems it will be over soon for Reading, i thought it will stall, but no looking at this, if anyone can explain would be helpful. Will it stall futher East somewhere?

Same here, everything white but...

Was we supposed to get blowing snow?, come on deep snow where are you"!

The wind is certainly a factor tonight like a blizzard where I am, a white out earlier..... due to peak at about 25 mph around mid-night and then drop down by mid-morning to 15 mph etc... or put it another way blooming cold in the wind for sledging and snowman building! :D

The slowly-incoming sleet/rain line has finally backed off. Still wet precip, but just a bit heavier :happy:

Back to snow for you then, do you think? Still wild rain here, just a decent throw of a stone from the sea

Our dog, a 2 year old Cocker Spaniel, has never been so keen to get back inside after a late night walk along the sea front!

Around 6cms here now... Moderate snowfall... A few pics attached...

The front is flying, and doesn't seem to be stalling, are we expecting it to move through quicker?

Yes, wet snow but snow nonetheless.

Just let mine out the back door, don't think he even made it to the grass before he ran back in :)

The front is due to stall, it is already slowing down on its front edge somewhat, so as it stalls it should intensify somewhat and places like Anglia, Kent, Essex should get a good whack from it. Great that you are learning, the best thing I would say is step back like you have been and just look at the sensible comments and learn gradually, the weather is fun but we are all learning and no system is ever the same, so a lot comes down to gut feelings also running alongside technical knowledge. Hope that waffle helps...

Hi PO have you noticed the wind picking up? is the cold air being pulled into the oncoming front?
