looking at the NNM for next 36 hrs , defo threat of small dusting SE , usual fav spots , but may also reach greater London ,

RE Thames streamer would love a surprise one to fire up a la Jan 2004 that even gave an inch or so here in central london during the morning , although signs at the moment doesnt look we get on going , but could be wrong

What a great Satelite Picture - Shows where the Snowfields are under the clear skies!

Also just a note most Streamer situations happen when showers form typically 25-75 miles offshore and NOT From convective showers from Holland.

There are also going to be some serious Icicles knocking around tomorrow morning!

hi paul, we're obviously not going to get streamers from holland but those showers are forming over the sea. what's the chances of some forming off our coasts?

The only obvious ones are the lack of Trigger and lack of Unstable Air. There are about the same number of positives as there is negatives.

Wind Direction is Spot on from 9pm tonight until 9am Wednesday.

Temperatures and Dewpoints look perfect.

Upper's are do-able

But

Cape is Non Existent!

There is No Trigger!

Seems a long shot, but there is some instability further out so you never know and I would not discount it completely!

post-24-0-88205300-1328625742_thumb.png - GFS Snow Type thingy also shows Precip allingned into the Streamer Position but I do not trust those at all

That was 8th Jan 2003. Great event. 4/5 inches in NE London/SW Essex from that.

Won't that cloud that is developing simply raise the temperature again as cloud generally seems to? Or at least prevent the 'super cold'.

just shows give the right conditions- even in bright sunshine & NO snowcover we can get sub zero maxima-

Steve

what are your thoughts for convection or a streamer set up tonight?

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Cold but bright in the southeast with hard overnight frosts. Milder and wetter towards the northwest and these conditions spreading southeast at times, bringing a risk of snow for some.

Updated: 1519 on Tue 7 Feb 2012 This looks to me...Another front pushing in..Cold hanging on in the south east ...Round 2?

I'm not expecting any flurries tonight to get too far inland, maybe the tip of Kent or Essex unless some convection gets going. Chances still for later in the week though - fingers crossed!
