what i am hoping for now is a total pattern shift from the last 3 Aprils, which have subsequently meant poor summers. This is what i now would like. A cold but sunny April, then a hot may and an even hotter June.

I think we have to be prepared for the fact that the rain aint going to come.

that would help the drought worries

the temperatures would be a shock to the system after this week

if this run verified :)

I am profoundly relieved regarding the rain, going into fruit and veg production big time this year with food prices being what they are and the hosepipe ban was worrying.

Looks like April Showers will be living up to their name.

big temperature drop on the 1st

the models are still confused from the 4th onwards

it could be very cold or average

the one thing showing is plenty of precipitation from 3rd onwards

ecm 12z is a cold run

http://www.meteociel...deles/ecmwf.php

http://www.meteociel...ype=0&archive=0

i would not rule out wintry showers on the 5th

and on easter sunday if these charts verified

cold 12z ensembles and snow risk showing as a slightly higher percentage now

interesting control run

http://www.meteociel...&mode=2&carte=0

126 and 132 has potential for wintry showers for evening of the 4th morning of the 5th :)

http://www.meteociel...&mode=1&carte=0

-8 uppers certainly cold enough

easter sunday looks potentially wintry as well

http://www.meteociel...&mode=1&carte=0

uppers should be cold enough

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/MT8_London_ens.png

4th onwards cold with plenty of precipitation showing

rain or wintry showers??

was gonna say the s word

but thought better of it

snow potential will change from run to run but there is decent agreement on uppers between -6 to -8 covering at least northern and eastern parts of our region tues night into wednesday as shown here from the gfs and ecm.

fax 120 shows the 528 dam line lying just south of s coast by wednesday

post-15445-0-31185400-1333192789_thumb.g

so looking great for midlands northwards but with cold air in place, at least some of our region has a small chance of seeing some snow showers - just depends how far south the cold air pushes.

thereafter, models seem undecided as to whether HP to our west will reassert itself or if the colder air to the east will hang around a bit longer.

crazy how quiet this thread and model output are considering the charts. -8 uppers at this time of year dont happen that often - not down here anyway! is everyone hiding out in the scotland thread? or maybe me, coast and john pike are the only members who want snow lol!?

0z ecm, gfs and ukmo have our region firmly under 850's between -6 & -8 wednesday into thurs.

apart from the hyper active gfs snow charts, i'm not seeing much snow forecast on wednesday/thurs - for us. ecm snow chart doesnt bring any for our region - instead slipping the snow down the west side of eng into the sw(!)

but too early to look at those details - with cold air over us, fingers crossed for some precip at the right time :)

certainly very interesting model watching

hi surburban

as you say above surprised no more comments about the weather next week

ensembles are picking up precipitation from 3rd to the 5th

so maybe some snow in that lot

i have noticed on the 7th the ensembles are trending downwards

maybe this could be a cold spell not a snap

however we need to see where the high pressure goes to

our west to see what happens in a weeks time.

at least model watching is a bit more interesting again.

I think having all this warm weather, even today that was described as temps normal for the time of year, but feels warmer than it did yesterday, people are not expecting it to an cold enough for snow down here hence the silence. I am yet to see a weather forecast on telly that puts it cold and mention the s word or even the word wintry! I notice these are weather warnings for snow but all north of the midlands! People might start coming on here now to pick the brains of the experts to see if it will sink south.

Anyway my cousin is having a BBQ on good Friday and reckons the snow and cold is for up north...I fear it will be a case of putting the kids in thick coats and keeping warm by the coals!

Will keep watching this space..

Thanks for all of the charts too is much appreciated...:)

The thread is quiet as most members including myself would prefer spring to continue of some sort! I'm over snow and to be honest apart from Northern England it's only Scotland that have any real chance of Snow.

I have just walked my dog over regents park and it's beautiful out there, clear blue sky's and feels warm. I went outside in a jumper thinking it would feel chilly as BBC forecast said this morning - nothing of the sort, I was boiling, perfect spring day!

It's 1st April and anyone wanting Snow, cold uppers, northerly winds, frosty nights is beyond me... Give me last weeks weather any day

Totally stunning out in the garden at the moment in the shelter from the wind. Blue skies and radiant sunshine could easily give me a red face if I stayed out too long!

To think that in 48 hours or so's time, I could be looking at snow in my part of the World - don't you just love the UK???

I cant see why anybody would want cold & snow now either. It's has 3 months of Winter to be cold. Spring should be all about warming up and having days like today and the last 2 weeks.

Eurgh... Can't believe it's going to be cold and wet come Tuesday!

Will feel dreadful under grey sky's and cold rain

Come on sunshine - return soon.

Amazing weather across London today! Feels warm too even with temps at 13c compared to 21/22c last week

Agree completely - I posted this earlier too.

Not only that, its all a bit depressing - the clocks have gone forward and so I'm ready for spring now.

Besides around 20% chance of seeing a snowflake over the SE anyway. Will just be cold and wet here - couldn't think of anything worse

I forgot that the weather runs on a rotor system.

Exactly - so this is exactly why I'm saying it's beyond me.... We are in April and I like warmth... Why on earth do I want cold rain over London Tuesday after the week we have just had!

Even if it was rain and mild it would be better.
