I guess Easter will be mediocre to okay, rather than downright miserable.

We've had a fair amount of rain here overnight. I got pretty wet walking to the pub at 9 last night and it's still raining quite heavily now.

It'll be interesting to see whether my workplace, which isn't a huge distance away, but might be south of the main activity, has had much.

Just rain and quite mild at 6 degrees at the minute, not even close to being marginal.

Should that area of red on the rainfall radar continue moving south? Would love to be under it just to get some proper rain.

Still bright and clear here with no rain, bit colder though

Yep, sunny at work (Hatfield Peverel) and nowhere near the amount of rain we had at home, although the rain had stopped prior to me leaving. It sounds like sun is only temporary though.

weather fronts have gone through but 528 dam line colder air

much closer to the south east

fax120s.gif

heading towards us from the midlands

as i said the other day i will not call easter even as we speak

Hi john.

Yesterday had a bit more interest for me wrt Saturday with the ecm showing some -8's over us but today it has changed its mind. Fax chart does look interesting and similar to yesterday set up but personally looking at how this has trended in the past couple days, I think the cold air will be confined to our east leaving us coolish and cloudy with a nw flow.

As for the rest of the month it remains pretty much as the ecm 32 dayer suggested several weeks ago....hp in mid Atlantic perhaps nudging upto Greenland and trough over nw Europe giving us unsettled and fairly cool/average temps. Hopefully things change by May.

I know I keep saying it but ecm 32 dayer has been so accurate, despite the models struggling at times.

There's nothing weird about wanting a certain weather type even if its not seasonal, its just personal preference.

I would love it to be 22 degrees all summer and as a weather enthusiast if I see something interesting in the models I follow it. If we were looking at the possibility of hitting 30 degrees then I would be following that too and commenting.

I hope to be wrong about Saturday and hope to see blizzards hehe :p

22 degrees in summer is fine by me. I do like those very warm spells though, where you can sit outside socialising, while lightly clothed all evening. I suppose these can make for uncomfortable sleeping though, so ideally weekends only! B)

I'm not really that fussed about Spring and while I prefer dry and fine weather, I do appreciate that adequate rainfall is needed.

I guess very few people ( sweaty, very obese types?) would be pleased with a cold, dull, wet summer?

We're right under the stalled band of the cold front - our clay soil means that I can see a puddle forming on our lawn

6.9mm so far. Should be some more later when the cold front finally drops south in couple hours, I wonder if we will get any convective goodies? I missed out yesterday....had some great stormy looking clouds but no thunder or lightning :(

Ooww at last something exciting happening with the weather here in MK......5 mins of pea size hail (Petit Pois though not big peas) and now the wind seems to have picked up a bit and is blowing the blossom petals off the trees...it looks like pink snow

It's been a surprisingly good day here today, after the rain first thing. Mostly sunny, if a little bit chilly.

Good... Let's hope it moves even further east.

Why anyway would want a pointless northerly airflow over the Easter weekend is strange!

Recon temps could hit 16c as we head through weekend. Fingers crossed

Some people like the cold, some people don't, I just wish the cold camp could stop being called weird or strange because that's the weather we like, I don't think have seen anyone run down the warm lovers, we are all different that's all.

I love cold too, my point is that looking for northerlies and potential snow events in April is just a bit odd. It's my personal opinion!! Especially when living in the SE. Apart from the odd occasions last one I think April 08 it is so hard to get snow here, so when the north winds do blow all we get is rain in this part of the woods anyway.

Although having said that statistics show there is more chance of snow in London at Easter then on Xmas day. Which still makes is a very low 20% chance of snow in April for the SE.

Certainly are john :) think this will trend a bit further east over next couple days and by Saturday will be out in the sea or extreme se perhaps. But we'll have to wait and see. I notice the 528 on the fax isn't great. Will keep an eye on it tho....still hoping for a flake....ooops I will be lynched now hehe :p

Medium term I'm quite excited by the increased convective signal. Tho how accurate this signal is remains to be seen. fingers crossed for some crazy t storms :)

Slight increase in the longer term around next Thursday night, but nothing to get too excited about yet as it's a long way away and not that much of a positive currently:

April showers then, just like March winds...

I can remember one windy day, when an elderly filing clerk, in one of my first jobs, made the comment "We don't normally get winds like this, except in March!"

The date was 25th January 1990. That comment still makes me chuckle.

To me, the front on Sunday looks weak, so a wet, chilly forecast may be a tad pessimistic.

It looks like the major activity will start late on Monday ( and hopefully won't spoil the weekend for people )

Should feel very nice and pleasant tomorrow in London and the SE, sunny to partly sunny in the afternoon with temps around 13c

Saturday feeling cool with grey dank cloudy weather, temps still hitting the 10c mark though.

Sunday temps up further than tomorrow's with 14/15c possible but still rather cloudy.

Monday - looks likely a period of more persistent rain will greet us :-(
