Very dark to the north west and south west, going through the dry gap here though.

Almost Pea sized hail here now and with these cells being very slow moving we could see a fair bit if it holds! biggrin.png

More rain now but VERY LARGE Thundery style drops.

What about tomorrow? I think the wettest day here in Coventry since I arrived last May was August 26th, with about 18 mm, if memory serves me correctly. Any decent chance of beating that tomorrow? :)

Bucketing down in Malvern. Garden could certainly do with a good soaking.

There are two types of rain that affect my part of the midlands.

1st: the 8.30am rain, which always soaks me through as I ride to work.

2nd: the 5 o' clock rain, which soaks me just as I leave work , for home.

I swear to god I'm gonna do a scientific survey of what time the rain falls here as it ALWAYS seems to be around these times!

I bet it'd be around 70/30 more likely to occur at those times?

Anyone else noticed this?

It does seem to be moving through quite quickly

Yes but look at what is following behind it - some incredibly heavy pulses. Scattered at the moment, but likely to develop as the morning progresses.

Bish

PS at risk of stating the bloomin' obvious, but it's raining here in Solihull :)

Yeah, that seems to happen a few times here too, especially with showers (lol). Like sometimes, it'll start raining heavily as I'm waiting to catch the bus home.

Something does seem to have really upset the weather today with all the crying it's doing at the moment.

Just been out to the rain gauge and we've had 13 mm so far in West Malvern, still coming down heavily.

I think there are some data that show it is more likely to rain on Sat/Sun and more likely to be dry Monday.

Currently 6C and we've had just over 10mm rain today. Best day for rain for yonks.

Yes 5pm is a definite magnet for rain! Happens with alarming frequency - a dry day all day only to turn wet bang on 5pm.

8:30am less so thankfully although this last week has put that to the test.

But nothing will beat irony than that gorgeous sunny week we enjoyed in March which came to an abrupt halt the second the weekend started (and my week off too). 20c and sunshine became 2c and sleet 1 week later. How I cursed.

Today seems every bit as grim as forecasted.

Heavy rain for hours now with a cold wind and temp. around 4C --truly like Winter out there.

Have to admit, this is my 3rd or 4th favourite kind of weather. Sadly my definite number 2 favourite type of weather (convective thunderstorms) seem to have diminished in chance slightly this afternoon.

Sods law that things warming up/settling down next week would come from the East which automatically means slate grey skies and mist everyday here even this far west!

Often North Sea Low cloud burns back to the coast for the rest of the Midlands whilst Shropshire up to Cheshire stay in a pool of murk

This depressing weather has really affected my mood this month, we needed the rain but enough is enough, one sunny day per week at least would be nice!

If the temperature was about 3/4*C lower, this would probably be falling as sleet and snow (lol). But would be nice to see some sunny, drier weather soon. This unsettled weather kind of makes me really miss the warm spell we had in March.

DISGUSTING DAY! Days in January are better than this! How anyone can enjoy this is beyond me.

I dont forsee any thunderstorms here this afternoon. Im sure cloud will be an issue even though Sat24 shows some sun in the South West now. Its all too messy imo.
