More chance of seeing flying pigs than a thunderstorm here

Yep same old story once again here- nothing doing. It's not as if we are merely dodging the showers and being unlucky.....there's just nowt forming here

What baffles me is even though it was perfectly clear yesterday that there would be no storm activity for NW England, it was included in BBC graphics and various convective outlooks?

Not a drop of rain here all day just glorious sunshine so we've decided to have a barbeque, got more chance of world war 3 breaking out than a thunderstorm here.

Well since about 10ish we have had Cb's passing by one after another but nothing comes from them. The tops are not very high before they seem to anvil off so it's pretty capped up there. Still some nice photo ops. Ayr on channel 4 looked pretty good the cell there in the background.

Ahh youve been unlucky. We had a strong hail shower from your direction (WNW Of here Bridgnorth is) plus a recent Thunderstorm just SW of here although short lived.

Still waiting for a proper thunderstorm! I'm back in Oxford now but think the fairly electrified one nearby is going to pass just too far south!

As for tomorrow's potential....GFS actually show slight convergence for a strip across N Wales, into the N Midlands and southern areas of NW England with some decent CAPE to boot. Now I just have to pray it stays that way.....

Yeah I saw on the radar theres some beefy stuff around our neck of the woods, but the Bridgnorth shield holds firm! Looking to the north now out my livingroom window and there are 2 big Cb's floating by with very dark bases towards Much Wenlock. Don't look like they are doing anything though.

For those of you currently disappointed with a lack of showers/thunderstorms I would take a look at the link below-insert the dates for as long as you wish, click on the ascent you wish to look at and see how the profile changes. The detail in these, relevant to your area, is what you need to decide if you are going to see much shower activity, along of course with watching the radar. The ascents will indicate before the radar starts to show them IF your area is likely to get any.

If unfamiliar with skew-t diagrams then turn to the Guide on this in Net Weather or Google skew-t and try whichever tutorial you prefer. It makes the fascinating watching for storms even more so and more reliable.

Go on try it and be amazed!

Short sharp shower of hail here, giving temporary covering on grass, distant rumble of thunder probably over Eastwood 10 miles SE of here.

It's weird having a quick look back over threads this time last year. The SE and NW have practically reversed positions. We were dying for some convectivity this time last year!

Well a cb has quickly developed out of a small congestus to the NW of here just over the course of 10 minutes but nothing much following behind in Wales. cb tops are also spreading out quite a bit here blocking the sun.

I think its game over for here today. Seems our standard fair is for storms to develop mid morning & move west to east, then die out here in the afternoon while continuing and getting stronger further east.

Until the winds come from a more southerly flow, we won't getting anything decent from this set-up.
