Short sharp shower of hail here, giving temporary covering on grass, distant rumble of thunder probably over Eastwood 10 miles SE of here.

You might want to add your location to your profile. Do you mean Eastwood near Southend?

Yep I think you may be right SteveB, pretty useless affair if you ask me.

Wednesday and Thursday next week look a lot better for our neck of the woods with a SWerly turning SEerly on the cards.

Yeah, southerly winds, especially south easterly, would help a lot here. I think the topography just doesn't allow convection here in these setups.

More or less totally cloudy here with not a single convective cloud to be seen, so yeah..

Lets hope it still showing come next week, could be interesting if it is.

Hi all, I'm new here. I live in the Grimsby area.

We had a brief thunderstorm around here at around 1pm with some pea size hail, seems to have gone quiet at the minute but the skies are darkening once more. So fingers crossed.

Although looking at the radar it doesn't look too promising at the minute.

Had a fantastic chase today, few possible funnels, one dead certainty! Lots of footage, got to go through a fair bit of video with lightning strikes, but at the very start of the video on the first cell we chased, must have been rolling about 17 seconds and I got a nice CG strike, it's in HD on youtube, will upload more video and lightning footage tonight, along with pictures.

Pictures of the third cell

I'm now over in Otterburn north Northumberland, plenty of action over here. No thunder yet but plenty of very intense showers with rain and hail which made for some tricky driving conditions! impressive towering CN over the national park. Not sure how to upload pictures onto an iPad from my mobile.

a minor point-not nit picking but to be correct Cumulonimbus letters are Cb, if that is what you are referring to. I notice several use your abbreviation.

Looks like Newcastle is about to get another soaking - it is very dark to my W and NW, and there is even a poorly formed roll cloud to the NW. Hopefully some thunder this time, and a bit more hail, but I'm not that fussy :)

Just went up on the South Downs to see if there was anything happening. Not enough for my liking though Jill was turning!

It is.

Interestingly there was evidence of wind shear present, so if one of the cells could really have got going then I am sure a funnel would have been a possibility.

I don't believe it, I've just had a shower here, although I am in Liverpool city centre so I bet it's stayed dry in Crosby.
