near-streaming webcams in Dublin, should give a good indication on how this storm interacts with the city skyscape over the next 30 mins.

Check out cam 4 for all those who haven't had a storm yet!

Is it worth me taking a drive to see this or not, looks like its dying although the hills here could aid development?

Looks like Kidlington got quite a bit of action - only a few miles north of here.

Doesn't look that great on radar, no sferics, and it looks like it's heading right at you anyway.

Nice pic though.

Looks like the big storm near Dublin is hooking slightly on it's tail.

We should have been chasing today, AJ. We've got to step up our game. laugh.png

Er, think I picked the wrong smiley... cray.gif

You probably won't believe this but I planned to work in the Banbury/Bicester area today seeing some customers, but I called it off this morning as the forecast was more persistent frontal rain and I didn't fancy getting wet......To express how I feel right now, the word 'Bugger' sums things up nicely fool.gif

my observation of the storm caught unaware by a close clap of thunder looked at my boltek display this looks good quick look at nw radar yikes right under storm decided not to video from home (Bicester) so out to car for a better view, pulled up in rear end off the cell which looked to be a decent hook with decent rotation in it then hit by large hail in downdraft, so back into car and head towards Buckingham see a tornado ropeout over Stratton Audley unable to get back to storm after core punching it due to slow moving traffic roads flooded due to melting hail stones see a decent wall cloud with scuds being ripped up into it so back to Stratton to see if any evidence see some small debris across road just where it looked like we saw the tornado ropeout from the A4421

Amazing Footage and Definately a Supercell in my eyes. The rotation in that video was insane and clearly something was on the ground ripping leaves off Trees.

Hope we get something like that here in the next 2 weeks although from the Outlook we might have been better placed in the Uk - Pmsl

Some amazing videos. Does make me think whether the 30-40 tornadoes a year in the UK is a big under estimate, as was said most people would not even know what they were looking at

If you took the 21st OWS map literally today, then Kent might scrape in, but all the other sources say not:

(unless you are fishing off Dover!!)

I'm afraid it looks like our continental neighbours who get anything going today

Maybe a slim, slim chance on the Scottish borders?

You had some thunder the other week Stu didn't you? Be greatful for that and think about the people in NW england like me who haven't even had a hailstorm to get excited about this year!

Had some torrential rain about 2 o'clock last night though. Check the radar for that time.....was quite impressive. Surprised there was no thunder as some of the returns were showing 100+mm/hr over Merseyside

Just seen the amazing footage on youtube/ various news websites from the supercell footage in Oxfordshire yesterday. Very rare for the UK to get that type of storm, shows that in certain set-ups we can get them though. I'm sure we probably get more supercell type storms than we realise with supercell related tornados but they probably go under the radar/not reported.

It's worth noting the set-up we had for this storm to build, as the next few days definitely seem to provide similar set-ups, potentially the door is open for another supercell storm to develop? We seem to be having very similar weather patterns to Japan recently.... and you know what happened there.

I've seen one!

It was during mid 2000 I believe, got the video somewhere... I remember watching it develop rapidly over the channel by the time it hit the south east coast it was a supercell, i've NEVER seen a storm of that height before it was so angry with thunder booming in the distance constantly. Lightning streaking into the sky from all directions, however by the time it crossed into the south east properly it lost it's supercell charateristics. There's always been some discussion over it actually being a UK supercell purely because was it a supercell in the channel or actually on land UK.
