Some strikes showing up for cambridgshire/norfork area from the line that was over Lincs earlier, may head to my area 5pm ish.

Indeed.. and that's nowhere near the area where storms were supposed to develop!

Thin line of convective development running all the way from the wash down towards Wiltshire at the minute, can see the band and one shower sitting to the north of MK, strong towers with dark bases. Looks very thundery anyway.

only 3 rumbles so far, lots of heavy rain & small hail for 20mins. Just starting to clear and can see clear blue sky behind the band.

Boom, it's off again. lol

It's being caused by convergence if you look at the current wind profile, WNW meeting a strong SW wind directly in a line where the showers are forming.

Nice example of post frontal trough stretching from Oxfordshire across to Norfolk, with quite a few strikes along its length - will it reach London?

Nice active storm near Chester drifting ESE...probably all a bit too far north to affect my area but it's nice to know that the ingredients are there

You can see the clouds crashing into each other over head here in Buntingford along that convergence line, so strange!

I think West Yorkshire looks set to miss out again, no change there then. Unless that stuff overnight could be thundery, but I am doubtful of that.

An unexpected couple of rumbles of thunder here in S. Glos. Currently torrential rain with hail in the mix as well. Didn't see any flashes so unless it happens again someone was playing with bins.

Doesnt help that kids are up and down my street on those mini scooter things that sound just like thunder as they go past on the pavement lol!

I am originally from Derby and moved here in 2010. In Derby we would get at around 5 storms a year, more on some years. Since moving up here I have seen one overhead storm - in 2 years (and that was only a small one)!

Thinking of moving back lol

Not sure about Queensbury but here in Leeds we usually do well for storms - 2011 was an absolute shocker though and 2012 is following suit. These westerly air flows are useless for here.
