Well, the skies here certainly look dark and stormy, convection is kicking off.. I guess it's a game of wait and see.

There's a lot of little pixle precipitation on the radar right now and some of them are turning into showers.. so maybe something can develop later on.

Not much happening here. It was bright and sunny earlier, clouds bubbled up now it's just grey and raining lightly. Still time i suppose.

Thats a pity. From up here on the hill it looks really dark towards Halifax.

There is no lightning anywhere in the UK on the lightning detectors currently. I think the most today will be the odd rumble but there could still be a lot of rain with the risk of localised flooding in areas that are being hit for a 2nd day running by slow moving downpours.

Meh..scratch what I said, just been out for a look. Some very messy skies, dark purple patches with some breaks and sun shining through and cumulus developing to the east / south east. Started raining quite heavily now aswell. First thunder storm in 2 years?? I hope so. Sorry for my terminology I am a complete newb. nea.gif

Strange, there was definitely 3 rumbles in Hexham before.

I'm back in Newcastle now and it's cool, grey and dry.

Hi guys,

Was incredible yesterday didn't get chance to come online as I was busy buying a new car, so i'm back on the road now for storm chasing, just need some storms!

When I went to pick my car up, I had seen the storm Muff and Reef was talking about, they was on all mighty rumble followed by a few IC lightning. Was not in the perfect line of sight to see any +CG but the storm had quite a base too it, some impressive rainfall totals too.

Was looking back at the posts from yesterday and Supacell got it spot on.

They seems to be mininmal amounts of CAPE out there today around the 100-150 mark, with a LI of +1 possibly 0 in places.

Showers will continue through the early evening, small chance of some showers becoming heavy across Pennine areas and more organised. But showers in the North East and close to Eastern coastal areas gradually dying out.

Something to keep an eye on this evening for Kent, running through to London & the Home counties and parts of EA running in to East Midlands, a trough on the fax charts is expected to push through tonight and during the early hours of tomorrow, the NMM is showing the precipitation to be very potent indeed with some impressive returns.

I think they may be some elevated thunderstorms tonight across these regions/ thundery in nature for Southern parts of EA, Kent, SE England/London, running through to the East Midlands.

Just looking at the latest radar and there's a potent little cell just West of Beverley, flicked back some time frames and it's hardly moved at all, no doubt some impressive rainfall totals there.

Big shower parked over the eastern side of York now, not moving anywhere and intensifying.

Looks like it's also over my girlfriends village where there was flooding from yesterdays downpours.

Yes the same is happening over here.

A shower is building above with constant torrential rain since 4:40pm, really quite unusual to see torrential rain to last this long. Usually lasts for no more than 10 minutes.

Looks very thundery around these parts, some very strange mid level undulatus formations and even what looked like mammatus in places, with low bubbly cumulus forming underneath on and off all afternoon, last hour has seen some sporadic large spots of rain starting & stopping also.
