Well rain has finally arrived on the north Cornish coast - I assume it is set to hang around for a while?

Thunder heard to the east of Stevenage!

Missed that myself, but a nice rainbow on show now. Saying that, I've probably seen more rainbows and double rainbows that thunderstorms this year!

Think we have truly had the worst of all possible worlds here today, as far as uninteresting weather goes. Apart from a short spell of heavy rain earlier this morning,we have now reverted to drizzle, with dull and very very overcast conditions. We currently have the lights on in the house, and heating is on!

To make matters worse, a slack breeze, unusually from the NE, is blowing all the petro-chemical pollution from Stanlow Refinery directly over the town and it's getting trapped in the dank conditions, and the smell is making people physically sick here....

Not a good day.

Red warning is gone?

It is there, between Plymouth and Exeter for midnight tonight to 1800 tomorrow evening.

I'm now under an amber warning. I tell thee, HIRLAM model looked out of sorts yesterday with it's extreme rainfall, but it's looking like it was correct.

I'm in the RED - anyone got a spare boat they can lend me?

Should be plenty around the English Riveria. Lol.

On a more serious note, I really feel for the holiday makers down there, I hope they are being made aware of this.

Never seen a METO Red Warning before!

I've seen it twice for snow.

One of those times i was actually in that warning for heavy snow. Guess what happened? Had less than 1 inch. rofl.gif

I haven't seen rain this heavy and persistent for a long time. Didn't think it would affect Bristol really, but if it carries on like this then some areas will have minor problems come tomorrow morning.

It's 18.45 on a July evening and it's dark inside, all lights need to be on and outside looks more akin to a winters day. Garden and plants are flooded.

Well It says "Take action"

So. Given its a Gov website I would take that as " The Gov is saying Take action"

I would suggest you take action... Whatever that "action" is mean to be is beyond me.... Run around in circles shouting ITS RED! ITS RED! ?

Maybe its go buy a boat? Help the economy out? Move things upstairs... R go jump in the puddles?

RED warning issued for parts of Devon & Cornwall for heavy rain valid from midnight. Up to 100mm rain possible: Of twitter... 100 mm!!!

The last red warning from the Metoffice was December 2011 for the storm force winds over Scotland, gusts of 90-100mph (105mph recorded @ Tulloch Bridge) - so they don't issue them lightly, major rainfall totals accumulating. Stay safe.
