Unsurprisingly we have the same here! Re your eldest, isn't there still a youth hostel at Holmbury?

not sure but i think Holmbury is where George Harrison and Eric Clapton wrote Here Comes the Sun. Which doesn't seem entirely apt!

BTW great to see you posting out of winter GP

Did Clapton co-write that? Didn't realise. I know Harrison had something to do with the Cream song Badge.

Totally off topic, so sorry.

Clouds over Ipswich now. Huge bank building to the south. Won't mean much but looks impressive.

Evening Steve

My source is someone I used to cycle with, who knows a fair bit about music, and it was told to me one Saturday morning as we arrived at the summit of Holmbury Hill. Put like that, and on reflection, I fully accept that my info may not be very reliable!

However I have looked up on Wicked Idiot and found this:

"Harrison stated in his autobiography:

"Here Comes the Sun" was written at the time when
was getting like school, where we had to go and be businessmen: 'Sign this' and 'sign that'. Anyway, it seems as if winter in England goes on forever, by the time spring comes you really deserve it. So one day I decided I was going to sag off Apple and I went over to
's house. The relief of not having to go see all those dopey accountants was wonderful, and I walked around the garden with one of Eric's acoustic guitars and wrote "Here Comes the Sun".

I think EC lived then in the Surrey Hills, so there might be some substance to this.

By the way I don't think it's off topic to talk about whether the sun is about to come out (desparate attempt to not have my post deleted!)

There were lots of CB's passing around the airfield today (Manston) most of the beefy ones looked North but we did ge a couple of real heavy showers with most of the sound of thunder in the distance, a few louder cracks but nothing too exciting. Just had a heavy shower pass now.

AS, I keep an eye on here, just don't post as much! Holmbury hill is a special place! Clapton lives in Ripley these days...

Back on topic, rain falling again but certainly not with the intensity of earlier!

Here's hoping. The sky is quite dark looking like yesterday evening when we had that thundery rain. But I can't see anything on radar; but then again I'm still learning. :D

Of course this couldn't have happened when I was in London last week. Typical. Next year I'm spending the summer in the Austrian alps, they have incredible storms :D

Very heavy rain here at lunchtime but otherwise no storms.

Although during my daughters school play, sometime between 6:30pm and 8pm I thought I heard thunder. However, there are no windows in the school hall, and despite my desperate urge to run outside to take a look, I stayed in my seat and worried and wondered instead. Going outside at 8:30pm we had definitely had another downpour but I will never know if it stormed.

Well, another day of absolute NOTHING. *sigh*. I suppose I should be grateful for last nights thunder. :(

Very worrying now John, Especially now that landslide and property subsidence is now in the lime light within the news.

fax chart update

PPVE89.gif?31415

thursday should be a nice day up to around 4 or 5 pm

PPVG89.gif?31415

by midnight onwards that to me looks like very heavy rain for the south east

PPVI89.gif?31415

this is a hard chart to call as heavy rain on friday may be restricted to north of london

a slight movement south could effect the whole of the south east

east anglia essex and north london with flood risk at present

PPVJ89.gif?31415

midnight heavy showers running down on a northerly flow

chilly feel to the weather

PPVK89.gif?31415

move heavy rain for the south east

i am not ruling out some thunderstorms here

PPVM89.gif?31415

sunday looks dry and sunny ohmy.pngohmy.pngohmy.png

PPVO89.gif?31415

either i am seeing things or is that a ridge of high pressure

dry for the daytime at least

get your santan lotion out for the day laugh.png

Reem2401.gif

my favourite chart from ecm fantasy island

heat building up from the south with a low pressure following

different air temperatures would set off some nice storms

due to unstable air
