Thought I'd post this radar sequence, to show how quickly these can appear from nowhere.

A shower that formed over east Ipswich in 15 minutes, from zero at 16:15, to substantial at 16:30 and will probably become a storm.

Another Storm, you wait a year and then 3 come at once, this not as active as the 2nd One but the Structure is easily the best of the day.

Will be posting pictures of Storms 2 & 3 later.

This has taken exactly the same track as the first 2, right down the Thames Estuary giving us the small rainfall and clear view of Cg's

while convection keeps going storms are likely to pop up anywhere

It's quite fascinating to watch. So unpredictable too.

Looks like my 2 rumbles is it for the day here. Guess I ought to be grateful for such slim pickings.........roll on August, you can't be any worse than the previous three months!

I would like to rephrase your comment Steve... "its quite frustrating to watch" ...well that is how I feel ATM .,...sadly.

All I've had is the sight of distant storms, with the knowledge that there have been storms at home. Ah well, I think most of the time I'm disappointed when anticipating storms. Chin up!biggrin.png

And that shower from East Ipswich has become a beast over the Suffolk coast!

All year we wait for a decent storm and then 2 in 2 hours. Both absolutely fantastic. Still got quite a bit of thunder and lightning as I write but at least the hail has stopped. No TV though.

Well that was biblical!!!! Lots of T & L and a hell of a lot of rain - - road outside is a river - just seen a police helicopter fly overhead which I thought was VERY strange... flew right into it.

Maybe you should change my second sentence too, to 'so predictable too.'blum.gif

Agreed something special that storm! Blue sky now approaching again so I stick my head out the door and then whack another huge bolt of lightning!!!!

Also interesting that the maximum temperatures in this region were only 16-20C today too. Different types of storms to the heatwave generated ones, but memorable in their own way.

Good call by Paul S, JP and others too, in their forecasts.

On the NW Radar each of these storms we've had this afternoon pop into life as they pass dorking - looks like a couple more in the way if the previous two are anything to go by - are they expected to continue into the evening?
