Biggin, echo previous posters feelings mate, hope everything goes as well as can be expected for you and mum.

I know the Beckenham Crem. very well, I used to live about half a mile away in Anerley and frequently got the tram from Birkbeck into work.

Very best wishes,

Tom.

cloudy in London - do you think this will hamper any possible home grown storms later this afternoon?

It looks to me like it's not going to happen now.sad.png

A pretty grotty day here, but can't moan too much, with the good weather we've had this week.

Tomorrow looks like a good day too, if much cooler than recently.

It's brightening here, so feels much nicer. I had to turn my office lights on at 8:00 this morning - I've just realised they're still on!

Its that kind of day here (Ippy) where it looks possible that a storm might spring up later. Kind of pearly grey and sultry/humid. :)

I suppose now it's brightening and the temperatures are okay, there's still a window of opportunity this afternoon / early eve. The CAPE / LI figures look okay for the south of our region then.

Well just had a look at the storm risk chart and Ipswich has a 52% chance around 4pm. Hmmm! Well wait and see. :)

I know what you mean, 3 days of hot weather used to be guaranteed a thunderstorm, but alas no more, its not just me is it? They are not plentiful like before?

No, we don't get em like we used to. As you say AM, after some days of hot weather a storm was almost inevitable, but we don't even get what used to be termed 'Summer Lightning' anymore. The kind which flickered silently high in the sky on warm summer nights. :(

Making me hungry!!

I think im just going to give up on seeing any thunderstorms in the UK this year, I will just have to look out for snow now as it seems to be more frequent than storms nowadays.

Im off to mexico in sept so hopefully ill seems some crackers there.

Oh you will good.gif We went to the Yucatan a few years ago and stayed in apartments on the beach at Akumel. No storms there — just blazing blue skies and a pleasant breeze.

Then we went to see the pyramid and ruins of Chichen Itza far inland in the jungle and it was almost unbearably hot 40ºC — some parts of the complex felt like being in an oven. Eventually, we decided we'd had enough and made our way back to the car. On the way home we drove through a massive thunderstorm and I watched the temperature gauge of the car drop like a stone from 38ºC to 25ºC in the space of a few minutes. Wow!
