that's pushing it a bit, especially in Gloucester (which is at low elevation)...6cm's quite definitely up on the hills, but 6 inches?

Just to add, the BBC website are quoting reports of up to 6 inches, so maybe it's true, but you know what people are like for exaggerating snowfall amounts!

Just posted in the south-west thread my jealousy at snow reports at my parents'. Ironically, Ian Fergusson reports heavy snow and lorries 'coming to grief' across our usual route home, which is pretty high ground across the Mendips, so I guess we might not have made it anyway.

Here in Surbiton, very stormy rain kept me awake towards the daylight hours. Just soggy now.

Any chances for snow here in Lowestoft?

I doubt it somehow. Let's just clutch a fist-full of straws??

Horrible day here in Chelmsford. Is it likely to rain much longer?

Last Saturday Braintree postponed their game against Wrexham because of a waterlogged pitch and I guess they have had at least as much rain today. They have a televised FA Cup first round game against Tranmere around about lunchtime. I wonder if it will go ahead.

I still cannot believe how my team beat Colchester United 3-1 yesterday. We fully deserved the victory as well.

Steve C what did your mates think of it?

Looking forward to the draw after the Braintree game to see who we have in the next round

Kind Regards

Dave

I didn't go to Chelmsford in the end yesterday (although I did have a late chance of tickets) Blasted engineering works mean that not only is my branch line closed this weekend, but also the train link from Colchester to Chelmsford is disrupted too. I actually wonder whether there's a case for only running trains during commuting hours?

The friends weren't best pleased obviously - they were moaning about certain players, particularly the keeper - but I think there's an amount of goodwill for Chelmsford to progress further, which certainly wouldn't be the case with Southend, for instance.smile.png

You must have been tired lazy.gif as believe it or not, there has been everything but the kitchen sink thrown at whole parts of the south. Everything from near gale force winds, rain, sleet, snow (some settling), hail and thunder has been reported over the last twelve hours. acute.gif Exciting stuff happening out there, except IMBY but I ain't worried as my time will come. good.gif

Another poorly estimated wind event by Met Office. predicted 70mph gusts, we barely got 45mph. They have been noticebly bad this year.

You can pretty much take there estimates and knock 20mph of

Great pics, there is something about the coast in the way that whatever the weather and time of year, it still looks stunning.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on net weather so I am just introducing myself.

My name is Calvin and I live just outside Epping towards Harlow, Essex. I have been browsing the forum since last winter as a guest and thought I would take the plunge and get registered especially to provide feedback on weather conditions from my location for this coming winter. I have 2 weather favourites which are, SNOW and HEAT WAVES, therefore this is what I will mainly use the forum for.

Im not really interested in your standard atlantic deep depressions bringing heavy rain and gale winds, that for me is just the norm and doesn't really get me excited.

I probably wont post much unless there is snow or heat, but heres hoping for a very snowy winter 2012/13 and a roasting hot summer 2013. I look forward to reading other members great posts.

To all my fellow S'Easteners - Heres to a cracking winter (hopefully)

Take care

Calvin

A couple more pretty chilly days to come

The 12th is fi look at the temperature spread there

I think last night showed if you can get a low pressure system hit at night with cold enough temperatures the surprise element is always there.

PPVE89.gif?31415

06 monday fax shows low pressure to our north east and south west

Variable wind flow again

Could be another radar watch tonight
