Morning all

The rain has turned icey here in Linslade, What are the chances of the cold air undercutting over here ?

You might be a bit too far East, but then the reports in the SW thread are quite encouraging and generally unexpected!

I'm looking through the day for more convective activity with something even on the cards for after dark around here:

Hi shotski,

This was my view of things earlier on but things are changing all the time.

Even the dedicated snow forecast sites failed to pick the extent of this event up:

So no hope for us mere mortals!

Could be more to come yet:

The sun is shining here in Hastings now!

Have we experienced the worst of it?

I don't think so, maybe not much rain coming your way now but the Temperatures will probably fall and the winds will pick up.

Horrible day here in Chelmsford. Is it likely to rain much longer?

Last Saturday Braintree postponed their game against Wrexham because of a waterlogged pitch and I guess they have had at least as much rain today. They have a televised FA Cup first round game against Tranmere around about lunchtime. I wonder if it will go ahead.

I still cannot believe how my team beat Colchester United 3-1 yesterday. We fully deserved the victory as well.

Steve C what did your mates think of it?

Looking forward to the draw after the Braintree game to see who we have in the next round

Kind Regards

Dave

Reports on Twitter of 6" of snow in Gloucester, from a reputable forecaster too!

that's pushing it a bit, especially in Gloucester (which is at low elevation)...6cm's quite definitely up on the hills, but 6 inches?

Just to add, the BBC website are quoting reports of up to 6 inches, so maybe it's true, but you know what people are like for exaggerating snowfall amounts!

Wet and cold here this morning, currently 5.7C, 6.6mm has fallen though it doesn't look like it will be raining for much longer looking at the radar.
